I understand that I am new to this forum, however must get something off my chest, and I hope that most of you can appreciate it. While yes there is a many scams on the internet posing as work from business opportunities. Atleast seventy percent of the problem is the buyer is simply looking for something that isn't there. Starting an internet business requires alot or hard work, dedication, planning, research, and a good amount of start up money. There simply isn't a product, or service you can purchase for a couple of dollars thats going to change that. Whats really bothering me about all this is the fact that there are so many people complaining about being ripped off that it is making a already skeptical customer afraid to purchase products and services from those of us that are offering a good value. Its going to do the same as it has in the "brick and mortor world" and run small business out of business.

As far as the scams its really simple. If you are being promised a get rich quick scheme, then thats what it is. A scheme! Meaning that if your being promised not have to put an investment, hardwork, and time in to it, and it doesn't cost a million dollars, its a scam!

As I look at the ads that on this website, why are there some ads for companies that are being called scams on here?

The ads are provided by Google. Although we have some control over which ads may appear, it is really tedious to keep blocking them. Therefore please apply due diligence while responding to such ads.

One reason is that a lot of folks use the word 'scam' in their ads to draw people to their sites... believe it or not, many will go just to see what the scam is all about and once they are on the site it is simply another business opportunity.
In my opinion, it is stooping too low to use another company name+scam to draw traffic to my business...but I have seen it done many times because - yep, you guessed it, I was one of those that was drawn to the scam ads to see what was going on...

I apologize if I offended you Mr. Rao. It was an observation and you are correct in stating that diligence must be applied. Fortunately for me, I have an inner voice(my wife) who must sign off on all my decisions like these. And I have come to the realization that she is smarter than I.

Yes, there are a lot of scams out there, but if you do research before you buy, you should be able to avoid most of the scams.

As a person that was "scam" out of 10K several years ago (even after checking into the BBB) I was very sceptical of any Internet business. But my desire to work from home over came my fears and I realized if I were to ever succeed I'd have to do my home work. Not only do I investigate a company, but I try to contact an actual person to find out more about the team. What training and support will you receive?
A great way to check if something is a scam is to get on the forums. Talk with people that actually are in the business you are considering. If people are complaining about a certain company . . . chances are it will be there for all to see. There area lot of good companies and work at home opportunities these day - just be sure to do your home work.
The Lord has truly blessed me and I not only found a work at home opportunity that woks but I've found a Godly minded team that gives me the support and training I need to succeed. So for anyone that has the dream . . . keep believing and check out any opportunity to the fullest.

I personally don't feel like anything but a ponzi scheme is a scam.
Do people lie and exaggerate the returns? Sure Do people lie and minimize or dismiss the work involved? Yep
The thing is: lying about the specifics doesn't make it a scam, it just means we're going through a period on the internet where this kind of marketing is making people money.
As long as there are people out there looking to make huge profits with no knowledge, no effort, and no investment, there will be marketers taking advantage of them.
Outside of the ponzi-type things, ANYTHING can make you money. There's somebody somewhere who makes a fortune on toilet paper. As far as internet businesses, I believe 90+ percent of them CAN make someone a lot of money if they will just pick something, learn everything they can about it (and how to market it), and work at it, then work at it some more.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I like the fact that anyone out there is being dishonest in their marketing, just that their product might work in spite of the marketing.
There are too many people I talk to online who start a new money making strategy, put a half-@ssed effort into it for a week or 2 and then call it a scam because they aren't rich.
Making money online really isn't terribly complicated. People just want something for nothing and in the real world, that's a rare thing to come across.

Not to offend anyone, but there is a marketer out there promoting almost every company as a 'scam' just to get people to the site. What these people don't realize when they do their search is that it's being done with every company - not just the one that person searched out.
It's very hard to google for information without being led into something that is another business opportunity in disguise. Ads like "I was scammed 37 times" - "Don't join xyz until you read this report".
Just today I read a discussion, on another site, how to deceive people with fake income earning claims, they even gave suggestions on what graphics programs are best. That told me a great deal about the group and the members... Not the type of group I care to be any part of.
There are 155,000 people signing up for some sort of opportunity on the internet PER WEEK. With all this deception on the internet, it boggles my mind to know how many victims we are racking up on a daily basis.
opps... sorry.. I think I may have gotten off topic ...better for a blog than a rant in the forum... and now we all know what one of my hot buttons is.

There are so many people what want to throw an advertisement up on the web in 5 minutes and then expect money to start flowing into their bank account. When it doesn't happen that way they become disenchanted. You have to make a quality decision to make it happen.

Jennifer, this type of deception has been going on since the beginning of time. The internet is just another medium that is used for such deception. Stay encouraged though, as there are many people online who are conscientious and concerned with being ethical in the way they make money.

I think a lot of us here were burned a few times while we were searching for the home business/opportunity that would fit.
I know that I would love to have all the money back that I spent on programs that really didn't work for me so that I could use it for what is working for me right now. But that was all a part of the learning curve that I had to go through.
But being on this forum and asking questions is a great place to start. I have found most people to be very honest and helpful on the forum.

I have rarely marketed business opportunities. I recently tried to market a couple that I thoght were decent only to be sorry later. I think I am going to stick to physical items, software, or ebooks - mostly non-internet marketing ebooks. I can't blame people for being skeptical - There ARE a lot of bogus work-at-home, MLM and internet marketing scams out there - more than legitimate ones.
