Hi, I joined up with World Market Systems not too long ago. They build you a website for about 200$ and then you are supposed to get commission from purchases made from the companies that have links through your website. THey also hit you up for a fairly pricey advertising package. I bought one for about 450$ and then received a call a couple weeks later trying to get me to buy more advertising for over 1000$!!!! I couldn't believe it! The alarm bells are going off in my head. Did I make a mistake and waste over $500?!??! So far I've only made 9$ commission. Has anyone else had experience with this company? Would love any advice I can get!

Welcome Essie! I don't have experience in that area but my advice is to STOP sending them money. There are many ways to do your own advertising for a lot less than that!
Never look at it as waste if you are trying to find a way to work at home - most of us here on the forums have 'spent money' - learning from our mistakes!
Maybe someone else will pop by here that has more experience in that area - but keep your wallet in your pocket for now, is my advice...

Hi Essie, My first affiliate marketing experience was purchasing a $450.00 software program last July that still does not work to this day. This was from a very reputable "guru" ! I demamded a refund, and got it based opon it being inoperable. Anyway I did learn a lot, and moved on. Then I lost some as an Adwords newbie..but I gained more than I lost (in education). If you decide to move on, be easy on yourself and look to the future. You can write articles, Squidoo Lenses, Hug Pages, Weebly Websites and blogs without spending a dime. I would not send them more money..I have heard this story before...However I am not familiar with your program. I hope this helps. Victoria

Hi, and sorry to hear about your problems. l went thru the same problems. kept spending money and more money and noithing not ever a dollars. l remember taking a 1 year break from the internet. then 7 months ago l came across Site built it. that was the turning point for me .
like everyone said please donot send any money for ads . there are alots of free methods of advistering in this forum that you could use am thinking since you didnot build this website there is no way of you controling it. its would be better to build your own site.
l think this company is using the facts that your are new online and donot know what soever.
my question is ;what do you want. where do you see yourself with this program.do you get excited to work on your site? is it something you want to do?
Just remember what doesnot kill you , make you stronger. its also take time and hard work to make money on line.
Let us know how you are doing.
P.S. l know its hard to say this but donot think about the money. untill you find the right program, you will still spent more.

I don't have any personal knowledge on the company in particular that you're dealing with, but in short, yes you wasted over $500.
When you're looking into how to make money, there are a couple of things you need to ask yourself as you read someone's sales pitch:
In your example, I would ask myself, "Self, if they can make this terribly profitable website, do all the advertising and make me way more money than I'll be putting in, why do they need me?"
Just like the guys who sell the "How to make 8000/month with no effort ebooks". You need to ask why someone would teach you to do this (and become his competition) for $27.
I feel for you, but don't let it discourage you. There is good money to be made everywhere you look online, you just need to steer around the people who will "help you" for a small fee.
To look at the bright side, if this had happened after you had a successful business and were looking to expand your options, you might have been taken for much, much more in fees.

Hi Essie-
There are so many scams out there and it sounds like you didn't get into a good situation. Stop sending them money for advertising. However, don't let this discourage you. There are legit work at home businesses amongst the scams. You need to find a company with a strong reputation that is offering a real product. I wouldn't recommend software because there are so many online marketing businesses that offer this. Especially ebooks. You are simply paying for recycled information. Again, you need to select a solid company with a great reputation and one that has been around for at least 3 years. You need a product that people can relate to and that they need. Plus, having a great mentor in your business is absolutely crucial for success. I've fallen into the scam trap but after extensive research, I found a great company with a great product THAT IS UNIQUE and a great mentor to help me make a considerable amount of money along the way. The opportunities are out there. You just have to do your homework.

Essie, Red flags better being going off more like sirens.... I have two friends who got tangled up with a company that sounds much like what you are describing. One of them is now in debt for $11,000 on their credit card, the other only $6k -
Though some have a problem with ripoffreport.com, I find some very useful information there sometimes. Go over there and search for the company you joined and the 'side' contractor, if any in this case... and see if there are any more reports on these people.
Also do a google search on the company and 'web company'. I use the word [scam] just as written with the brackets following the company or whatever I am searching for... doesn't mean it's a scam, but if I go through all the hits I get from a search of this manner, I usually end up with a good mix of opinion.
I have an article I have been meaning to write about a company using two different names and doing what it sounds like is about to happen to you. I need to put that together and get it posted.
Thanks for the reminder. ~

Essie: Did I make a mistake and waste over $500?!??! Well, one thing that I would evaluate first is: is the website that they made for your worth marketing? If it is, then cut your losses and start marketing your website yourself with FREE methods.
I don't suppose by any chance that their "marketing packages" come with a money back guarantee do they?

Essie,
Our mentor failed for the first fourteen years of his network marketing career.
It wasn't until he met his own personal mentor who told him it wasn't his fault that he began to succeed.
Now, he and his mentor are both very wealthy "wise guys"!
Give up the struggle . . . but don't give up the dream!
