In my efforts to run an ebusiness from home I've sourced and digested a lot about generating traffic. Now I'm interested in how to get them to do more than bounce off my site with their click-happy tripper-fingers and buy stuff.

I have two questions I'd love to hear your input on.

1. Do you have difficulty converting your web visitors to sales or, once they arrive are you happy with what they do on your site?

2. If you could say 2 things or give 2 things to those visitors to get them to buy what would they be?

Need to get my brain out of the traffic-generation gear and into the next mode, and hope you can help with my two questions here. Appreciate it.

A couple of things came to my mind when I read your post. People are looking for good deals and quality products. They want proof that the product works - testamonials, screen shots, guarantees. The want to feel like they are getting a good deal - special offer, free bonus report, limited time discount. Every time your potiential customer has to click...you should add something else to your offer - if you can collect your customers email in the process all the better.

Under promise and overdeliver!

With the above being said, be careful not to oversell yourself. Don't push it in peoples' faces. In my experience that turns them off. They need to feel like they are the ones in control, then they will remain happy.

Thanks Marktech/Homeboy

Good suggestions to add to the home page and deeper in.
Any other ideas on encourage a buying mood in visitors?

I saw that Sitepal ad for those speaking animated characters. What do you think about them, and if you were to use one, what would you have its speech focus on?

Ha Rory,
I think you can also capitalize of things that people dont even need to buy for you to make money. The Adsense from Google is a perfect example. People just need to click for you to get some income stream. So you basically just need the adsense ads to be captivating and worded right for people to click on.

That's true, and I haven't added any adsense yet, though I do have an account. So focused on the in your face aspects of getting the site running and marketed.

Of course I imagine you can add ads for related affiliate programs to pick up visitors who are looking for something but don't find it on the site. I have good space down the sides of my pages where I could put ads like that and get sales from my 'non-buyers'.

This is something I've been considering. Can you shed a light on this?
