Hello all. I'm new and would like to get into Internet marketing. But I have no clue on where to start. I just found out about clickbank and trying that. Where else should I start to learn this business? Thanks!

Hi Johnnyqt25,
That's a broad question. Since you are looking at clickbank, I assume you are interested in affiliate marketing for one thing. I'll send you a link for a free Affiliate Master's Course that was hugely helpful to me when I was getting started. Check your private messages for it.
It's pretty good, especially for free. It goes through the whole concept of choosing a niche, doing keyword research, building solid content, getting free targeted traffic, etc. This is just a basic "how-to," so you'll still need the tools to do it.
Some people like to start with free tools, which is fine if you know what you are doing, but I chose to go with SBI after going through the free course and I haven't looked back. It's a matter of personal preference, I suppose.
I just figured if I was going to spend countless hours marketing, I wanted to make sure I was doing it right the first time.
If you are interested in other types of marketing, there are different threads that discuss them, or you can start a new one by asking specific questions you're troubled with.
Bye for now. Don't forget to check your messages. Blessings, Angie

What exactly are you trying with clickbank? How are you starting to promote the products?

Thanks happywife for the email. I'll read up on it. I also just joined up with WealthyAffilliates. Heard alot of positive things about them and hope I can learn something. I don't know exactly how I'm going to promote the products just yet. Maybe get a site going and some free advertising?

Unless you have money to spend on advertising and know how to do it right, it is much better in the long run, in my opinion, to build your own site.
All the best. Let me know if I can help in future.

HiQuoting: dmitch31 HappyWife, is there some reason you can't share this info with all of us? Why the private message? Well, I used to have it in my signature link, but then swapped it out for the free MLM book that I thought some of the members here would really benefit by reading.
I can't add them both because there is a limit to the number of characters we are allowed to add to our sig.
To be honest, the link is a redirect to an affiliate link, so I can't just post it in the text because it is against forum rules. Don't want Vishal scolding me.
I'm happy to send it to anyone who wants it, though. It is really good material, especially for free.
Just pm for a request and I'll get it off to you ASAP.
dmitch31, I'll post it to you now.
Blessings, Angie

Hi Johnny, I think you got some very good advice from the posters above. I would add that it takes time to build an online business but if you are willing to learn (ALOT) and don't give up you will make money.
Bum Marketing, (article writing) is how I got my start. Just google Bum Marketing. I would also suggest you read forums like this one and the Warrior and Digital Point forums as well. They are all Internet Marketing forums and you can get some great advice. Don't buy into all the get rich quick stuff - ebooks software etc. Stick with a few techniques until you get results. Don't hop from one technique to another - that will wear you out and you won't get good at any of them.
There are a few good informational ebooks and some good software out there but most of what you need to get started you can get for free. I would suggest you eventually invest in a good keyword tool after you make some sales. Then later, buy a domain and hosting so you can build webpages and or you own hosted blogs.
It's a steep learning curve, It took me about two months to get some results - it varies - hang in there.

Hi Johnny,
If you have an established site - 10 pages or more - apply for commission junction. Otherwise try linkshare. They are both quite a bit better than clickbank.

Wow thanks for all the tips guys. I'm working on a website right now and have a couple affilliates up on my site. Been learning alot from wealthy affiliate. There is so much to learn but im enjoying every moment of it. Of course my goal is to eventually gain some profit from all this, but I'm manily here to learn. I think I finally found something that I actually enjoy, which is great for my limited attention span these days!

Hi Johnny,
I think it's best to read some blogs on internet marketing and business and find someone you can trust. Then follow their advice.
My favorite blog at the moment is Terry Dean's. He is very straightforward and will not steer you wrong.
Some of the blogs are so full of hype that it's hard to trust them, in my opinion.

Google Tellman Knudson and Mike Dillard. Both have great ways of teaching online promotion.

I wish everyone could see how cool it is, but you can't do that unless you join. I understand people being skeptical, but Wealthy Affiliate really is the real deal.
Best of luck to you Johnny!

While you are looking around, try to forget all the hype. Everyone wants you to buy their product! Do your homework, ask around, and when you are deciding on a product, make sure it is the right one for you. I make my living off of affiliate marketing and I have bought and read scores of them. They are (mostly) all good. I learned a little from each, but, 99% of them involved certain marketing tactics that I really didn't want to do. I finally found a couple of systems that worked for me and I put them into play. If you have doubts about a system,or you think "Well, I don't really want to do that." then don't....There is an affiliate marketing program for everyone out there, but the problem is finding the right one....Hope this helps a little and best of luck to you...Keep us updated.
