Hello everyone, I have always wanting to start an online business but now I have made the firm commitment to really making it happen. First things first, I have to educate myself on online marketing before looking for a business to start and promote. So here's my question to everyone in here:
Which book or course would you suggest as being the best for a newbie so to speak to educate oneself on the topic of online marketing? I am talking about a course which will teach you everything from A to Z not some bogus one filled with hype.
Thank you very much for all for their valuable feedback.
Cheers.

What type of online business were you looking to start? That really will affect what type of marketing you should learn. We can give you better advice if you are more specific.

Indeed it comes down to type of business company and products and then you can discuss marketing methods in great fantastic detail.

Not only that, you will need to educate yourself on HTML if you don't already know it. Even if you don't end up building your own websites, you'll need to know how to make your own changes and updates here and there.
Most people are terrified of learning this stuff, but it's really not that difficult, lol. You can find tons of free HTML tutorials on the Internet, don't bother with ebooks or courses for that. Google is your best friend.
My final advice is to do a google search for free ebooks on whatever subject you're interested in learning about. Do this BEFORE you buy anything. Some sales pages are so well written you'll be dying to open your wallet for the product, but just don't do it. You'd be surprised at how much quality info you can get for free on the Internet!
Good luck!

Actually, I think regardless of the type of online business that you try to start, the methods of marketing on the internet by and large are the same. There's free article marketing, bum marketing, pay per click, search engine optimization, etc.
Wealthy Affiliate University is an excellent resource. It costs $29 a month, but I was able to market and sell 2 wealthy affiliate memberships myself, so at that point my membership expense was covered. And, I did this using free marketing methods as well. At least now, I can relax and work through the material without worrying about the cost.
I don't know what type of business you are going to do, I'd recommend considering affiliate marketing. The advantages are: you don't have to stock product, you don't have to deliver product, you don't have to deal with returns, and you don't have to interact with the customer. All you have to do is bring traffic, advertise, and collect your commission.
Anyhow, let us know what you've been thinking of, and we can help you a little better.

Absolutely, this is so true. The more research you put into this, the better off you will be, and your wallet will be happier too
There are tons of place on the 'net that you can get info, but I prefer forums. They are real people with real opinions and other board members don't tolerate spam or BS.

Instead of a course, it is better to spend some time reading forums.

Quoting: pcwork Instead of a course, it is better to spend some time reading forums. This is most definitely debatable. What's better for one person might not be better for another. Plus it depends on how web-savvy you are to begin with. And, yes, you all know that I promote Wealthy Affiliate, but I will say that a course can get you on track faster, and reading forums offers you plenty of opportunities to be exposed to misinformation posted by people who aren't making any money.

Because I was broke I started with article marketing. It's free but can be a steep learning curve. And you don't need to know HTML to start a website. I have a free course I'm working on that will give someone a free website, free website design tools and a free video website building course.

Thanks to all for their feedback. Much appreciated. After searching for a while, the business opportunity that meets my criterias and the one with the highest potential is Global Resorts Network. I have been receiving daily emails from several people who are currently involved with GRN but now it's getting confusing with everyone promoting a different "marketing system" to promote the business and product. Can anyone, give an objective account of what is the best marketing system to start with with the GRN opportunity/product? I'd be truly grateful to anyone shedding some lights into that.
Cheers.

I think the most important part of starting any new business is to find a good mentor that you can trust. There are a lot of people here who will help you, but you should look at paying someone to start with.
The best way to do this is to join a membership site.
I recommend this one - Rich-Jerks.com. I would not be making any money on the net were it not for the help I got here. The forum is absolutely brilliant, and there are literally thousands of dollars of downloads that will get you started in your own business in no time.

I'd try the Warrior Forum first, it's free. I've never been to the RJ forum but I read a copy of his book. If I were going back to a paid site it would be Wealthy Affiliates.

I agree with John Francis in the respect of having a mentor. Most will have a blog or website with free information they share to add credibility. I found and am learning from terrydean.org and his membership site .
I am sure there are others out there also that are just as good but this is the one I can personally recommend.

1. Choose niche and find 5-7 products within that niche and test them for conversions. 2. Take the profitable ones and start an advertising campaign using both free and paid methods. 3. Create a website and expand the niche, start a list. 4. Create your own competing product to promote with your affiliate products.
To your success,
Michael
