There are some transcription services, especially if you are in the US, I believe, but I wasn't able to locate something when I was starting out. I think there is someone in this forum who does it and will hopefully come to your aid.
If you can afford to put a few months of effort into building up to an income, I would suggest you encourage your wife to build a website business about something she already knows a lot about or enjoys.
I started out with my chocolate site (in my signature). Yes, I adore chocolate. I had no prior experience online, but with the company I signed up with, I was able to build a lovely site (in my biased opinion - ha ha) that is bringing in a few hundred dollars a month and growing every month.
The catch is that you have to work first and get paid down the road. A lot of people don't have the perseverance to put the time in and trust that it will pay off. I was in a position where I had a good bit of free time on my hands but had to be in a specific location. You and your wife can read about that if you are interested on the "about us" page of my chocolate site.
Anyway, I joined SBI, and they provided me with all the tools and step by step instructions I needed to do the right things to reach success. I love the system because I've seen it works first hand. Just wanted to give you that option as something you and your wife can consider.
If you'd like more info. you can follow the links in my signature, or send me a private message, and I'll be glad to help if I can.
I hope you find something that works for you. It is a blessing to be able to stay at home with the kids.

Hi rjp10980,
Welcome to the forum. I'll let others answer your question since that isn't my forte. You can Google your question. Just don't pay to sign up for any of the jobs you mentioned as those often turn out to be scams.

For general transcription (not medical) try Tigerfish and Mountain West. There are several other transcription companies that hire newbie transcriptionists. If you go to wahm.com, you'll see their transcription folder, which has a sticky post called "Companies that hire ICs" and it has a very long list of transcription companies to contact. Here's a link to that transcription folder:

Hope that helps.
