#1 Is it reputable, I mean the people who offer their services as programmers, seo analysts etc.?

#2 Reg. SEO, some bidders claim to get your site top ranking for certain keywords, are they genuine, can it actually be done?

Pl. share your experiences and ideas on this. Since traffic is important for any type of business, I thought it;d be better to focus on SEO to get top ranking, than waste it on other types of advertising.

Well, if you don't have the time or the desire to learn SEO, then you might hire someone to do it for you.

Most of us like to learn how to do it ourselves.

Up to you.

Elance is one of the oldest freelance marketplaces, but I think with the recent Page Rank update, many SEO concepts are changing.

At elance, I think you can read feedback regarding people who have worked on projects for others.

I have use their service base on the other users feedback and also the portfolio they send me.

So far I have no compalin, but one thing you must remember is to have a contract agreement with who ever you want to engage their service and also select the payment system such as escrow, as they are the 3rd party who hold the payment until you instruct them to release. This will prevent you from any dispute subsequently.

I have used Elance for various projects, it certaily saves time and can be very good value if you spec the job correctly, I agree about using escrow. It is especially useful for getting a variety of bespoke banners created, just put an ad out and people will bid as low as $10, ask them for 5 or 6 ideas with your text and theme, once you find one you like they will create the banner, gif, html in all the standard sizes.

Regards

Maricel
