Quoting: beast69 I filled out the initial for on their web site and it took a month or 2 before I got an e-mail that said they were accepting more agents and that I could continue with the certification process. I got in 7 days ago right away. Now is a good time to join as they are accepting people as far as I know, you don't have to wait like person above. You will be trained and ready for the Christmas rush too, some great extra money there when weather is bad and I can't paint. I think it is a good company from what I have seen. The great part is the flexibility of your hours. There is a lot of training though, not hard but a lot to remember. I got lazy and failed my first test of 11 you have to take eventually, it was my 6th test but passed it on the second try (test is same 2nd time and you only get 2 trys).

I really appreciate all of the information about the "west" company. My mom has been looking for something to do from home and it has been frustrating trying to teach her all of the in's and out's of internet marketing.
I will definitely have to check this out for her: does anyone know if it is Better Business Bureau approved??
Thanks for the info again and if anyone ever has any questions about myspace marketing...feel free to ask: it is an amazing market to advertise to

Kathy, I registered as a West agent a few weeks ago and just finished my Direct Response training. Question: it seems when I am going through some of the practice screens and trying some of the products that they have a lot of upsells. Do you get many objections from customers when you work these calls?

I'm the wife of a United States Marine, and on a military wives forum there was a LOT of talk about West at home. I decided to try it out a couple of weeks ago, and today I got my email saying I could begin the background check/certification process (I'm sure you remember). I'm extremely nervous and excited at the same time. My problem is that I don't want to get my hopes up too high so is there any advice you could give me? How much time am I devoting and how much money can I expect to make? Obviously, being a military couple, my husband and I could use as much as possible. Is West At Home going to provide me with as much of an income as say a normal part time or full time job?

This may seem like a stupid question, but I was wondering about the type of corporation that West requires. Is an LLC considered a corporation? I'd really prefer to go that route than to start an S or C type corporation. Will West accept LLC's?

I personally would not recommend West...although, I currently work for them now. Definitely , do not expect to become rich, but do expect low pay and wasted time. What I mean by that is that you may be scheduled for 40 hrs but may actually only work 20-25 hrs. I value having wasted 20-15 hrs where I could have been more productive. IF working "40" hrs every week for two weeks and making 400-500 or less sound good to you then great, but for me it is just gas money;however, I do not work 40 hrs a week any more. Tested it for a month, thank god I have a great full time job. At west you do not get paid when your are sitting there waiting for the phone to ring. In a hour shift, you can just get one phone call. It has happen to me many times. I do understand that everything is relative, but when you do the math it is barely minimum wage. They had a guaranteed rate, but quickly did away with it. The company is very unorganized and inconsistent.

I also work for West, and yes you get leary about giving out SSN, but for any job you have to if you want to get paid. Mine was used to do my background check, and to set up direct deposit of my checks into my bank account. I have not had any problems with them.

Hi To all who are wondering about west at home .com/. It is a legitimate company, I work for them, and things have changed in the last year. Now, you are no longer a contract worker but are actually employed pending your hiring..., You have a different process to go thru than from before. It is a company that offers guaranteed rate per hour or per min phone time depending on the contracted vendor and payout. Which ever is more is what you are paid. In otherwords, if they guarantee $10.00 per hour, you will be paid that amount, unless you are on the phone longer per call and the per min amount is more. Since you are an employee, you will be guaranteed the min wage no matter what amount of time you spend talking at the per min rate.
Example:
I talked to several customers and only spent 30 mins talk time for the 1 hour I was scheduled to work on the phone. Given a rate of .17 min amount that would equal $5.10 (.17x30). Therefore, I would be paid the Guaranteed rate for this certain contract of $10.00 instead of $5.10.
Keep in mind, ...The contracts and schedules are 24/7 and you select the day and times to work depending on what is available. The schedules that are guaranteed $10.00 per hour will go fast to first come first serve. That said, the hours available can be during the day, evening, late night, early morning. You choose your hours.
You are even paid to train. They direct deposit your pay. No costs are involved to you except in your phone and computer equipment. West now will do W4 tax withholdings for you. If you haven't checked them out recently, you should.
Another company similiar is Alpine .com/. My state isn't eligible to work for them but you may be. Another: Just A Fact Of Life that I thought you may need to know about.

Hi Everyone! I'm excited to be part of this forum... I've had some success (and some disasters) working from home, but now am working fulltime from my home office and it is great!
I have some insight and experience working as an inhome telemarketer and customer service agent. The company that I recommend an pays better than average ($12-$15 per hour) is Telereach. The support is great, the pay is timely and the projects are interesting for the most part. They also have some states where they won[t accpet agents and I no idea why.
Shoot me an email and I'll get you all the details and some contact info.
I didn't have a good experience working for West - there are better paying companies out there and I didn't like how they would cut my hours without warning.

Hi, Can you tell me a little more about Telereach. I am currently in the background verification with West but would like to explore all avenues.
Thanks.

Hi, I passed the innitial evaluation and a little before Christmas I got an email to fill out some forms. I filled them all out, and faxed my proof of identity (ss# and drivers license) and also mailed my notorized copy of it. I have not heard anything back from them. I have emailed them numerous times and now the link to fill out my forms or find out what is left to do is just a broken link. Is there a way to call and get in contact with them. They said I would be hired, but I haven't heard back after giving them my information. Thanks

Hello
I have a question for justafactoflife. I recently received an email from west where i had to fill out and fax my paper work to them. I have not received anything from them stating that they have received it or not. I emailed the human resource department but have not heard from them. Should I be worried or does it normally take this long?
Thank you Jamie

Heres something that might interest some of you. I know Mcdonalds in some states like North Dakota are outsourcing their Order taking to residential homes via Call Centers. Thats right. A friend of mine in Fargo has a relative who is doing this from her home !! You just need High Speed Internet and a phone. And you take Orders from the Mcdonalds drive thru from your Crib. With a regular Paycheck to boot.
I think one of the Outsource Call Centers is named SEI-CCS

I just finished my initial paper work and wonder how long I should expect to wait to hear from HR at WAH. This has been a timely effort so far, to get in to the web site, etc. I understand the need for the back ground check, but am anxious to get started. Thanks
