hkswma,
That's an odd thread title. Are you actually wondering if anyone has ever made any money online, are you asking what the popular making money techniques are, or are you asking which make money online programs are not scams?

Hi hkswma,
There are many ways to make money online.
If you are looking for a way to earn money for free you are not going to find one - They Don't Exist.
Think about it for a second, why would anyone tell you how to make money online for free if they are making $100,000 a year.
My suggestion is to be realistic, don't look for something for free, look for something which will actually work.
I have tried some schemes (scams) and been burned, some programs may seem nice and easy - even cheap - but take it from me, the best ways to make serious money online are to pay for them.
Google for feedback - thesiteprogram+scam - this will help to some extent.
Kind Regards
Richard

hkswma,
I just received a free powermall. I haven't tried it yet but the stores in my sig file and many other big name stores are participating. It seems that this business is quite legitimate.
You and your downline receive discounts on items you will buy from those stores each month whether or not you do it through powermall. I reason that you might as well get the discount and build a downline to get commissions 9 tiers deep.
You also get a free webspace. You do have the option of hosting it where ever you want if you'd like to add a blog, ad programs, etc. But you don't have to do that. Everything is free and they don't bother you with upsells. They have several free tools for tracking sales and downline. I still can't believe how good this is for free.

Working on-line is possible and you can make money but you do have to work. This is where a lot of people think they have been scammed. They fall for the hype and think that if they just buy the product and read it they can be successful. You have to actually do what the program says or work at whatever system you are going with. I am with a travel business and I love it, it doesn't seem like work at all. Also I get to take trips for very, very discounted prices. Listen to this call if you need an idea: 646-222-0102.

The most important factor that determines how successful you will be in direct selling is you!
Beyond yourself, the three most important factors in your direct selling success are:
- the nature of the product or service - the strenght of the company and its financial opportunity - the particular team you will be working with and the support they will provide
There are plenty of opportunities out there, you just have to find the right one. Listen what others have to say, but don't believe in those $6,000.00 checks for just 3 day's of work! It ain't happening!

Hi guys,
If I may interject.
As of right now, time leverage is VERY appealing to me! (3 kiddos = Soccer, wrestling, Kickboxing, pt room parent, and Basketball! M-Sat = I'm busy!!!!)
But I wouldn't have it any other way! In case you all are wondering... the answer is Yes I do all of my follow up call & my Associates 3 ways from the my Home Office, Road, Gym or Field.
This is another reason I love my home-business, I can take it with me where ever I go. So, answer to the Thread question is yes there are legit home businesses, I have a legit business. Yes, you can be successful from home using the internet.
You really should look for something that will tailor to your lifestyle. So whatever it is that catches your eye... Be sure to turn it upside down and try to poke holes in it. Now just because you've poked a hole in it, can you live with that hole.
Is it something you can work with? Because this isn't a perfect world.
Just like a promotion in the work place, there are some sacrifices. Like, long hours, restricted vacation, or maybe relocating... but those are things we debate for the security of our futures.
Wishing those searching the best.
Jena

Quoting: WorknfromHome I make money online. Its not get rich quick but it does put some extra cash in my pocket. When I was unemployed for 6 weeks it paid the bills. I invested my time and only $2 and have been making money ever since! __________________ I can show you how to make money online AND receive free products! All you need is a paypal account and less the $10 bucks to start. Interested? PM me now! Sound to good to be true? Just ask me for proof!
Isn't what you are doing is a scam. You ask someone to send you $10 or $20 for information on how to make money. And all you send them are the steps on how to post in forums like these and get others to send them money through paypal?

Do what you love and the money will follow.
I don't care how worn out that cliche becomes.
I'll say it over and over again.
Get obsessed with a topic so that you become the topic.
Then you'll be able to churn out a high volume of high quality articles. Then you will get return visitors. Then...you get the idea.
You guys are making this much more complex than it is.
You do your research (several month, a year or more)
You KNOW what you are talking about.
You SEO it.
You register it and promote it in other ways.
You add to it every day.
You create press releases.
You monetize appropriately.
That's it!

That's what I love about the program that I got into. They give you a complete set of tools and a series of instructional emails that help you launch your business. You are joining a team that is determined to see you succeed because their success depends on yours. There is no sign up fee and no monthly fee.

I just hate superficial advise: Of course, "choose wisely." It's obvious that's why I'm on this board. The question remains, HOW does one choose wisely? Do you ask the business that is asking for your money? Do you trust positive reports on the net that MAY be planted claims by the company in question? I mean, how do you know who is real and who is, like, a set up?

Quoting: twnuck First of all I would say that any real business requires an investment of both time and money. WIthout that you don't have a real business and you are just looking for a job Next, make sure you are looking at a business that sells a REAL PRODUCT of value. Ask yourself if you would buy it. If not, find another business. I agree with Todd & JenaV,
We offer real luxury travel to 5000 luxury resorts in 55 countries. These aren't some cheap voucher or vacation certificate program. Our awesome compensation program - Perpetual Leverage is unparallel in the industry.
Check it out! Wish the best, PM with any question

I make good money as a medical transcriptionist working online.
Medical transcription requires schooling, but there are general transcription companies that hire you without any training or investment. I don't know if we're allowed to talk about specific companies in this forum or not, but I know of several that hire w/o experience.
I interact with a lot of general transcriptionists that make a good living online, as well as medical transcriptionists.

The fact that this forum is around supports the fact you can make money from home. There are many opportunities out there. In fact there are so many you can make a career out of just joining opportunities. Im a member of a few travel opportunities but have been around in the home based arena for over 20 yrs now. At an event a few years ago a leader in one of my opportunities pulled out this long list of opportunities that they had been involved in and it stretched from the stage to almost the back of the room. Just like him some worked for me and some didnt. I have a bit of a litmus test I use that works for me I hope it has some value to you guys.
1- If you cant explain the pay plan to the normal person then run 2- Is there a tangible product? 3- Does is have a business model that the masses can follow? 4- Is there training and support from someone other than your sponsor? 5- Is it priced at a good market price?
If you answer no to 2 of these questions then you really should rethink if you want to join the opportunity. This is a little selfless promotion but ive got a free opportunity in travel that has you earn while you learn. Id love to talk to anyone about it. I think that with so many opportunities out there the ones that are free are getting alot of response these days as so many have been burned lately. I see things like My Power Mall and the social networks continuing to grow.
Id love to network with any of you and go over my story and more importantly learn a bit from you all. If you stop learning you stop growing. I plant on growing real tall and being one of the most widely known names in the home based business arena. So lets work together and get to the top together.

I definitely don't believe that you should have to spend money to make money. You can make money off of having your own blog. It is free if you get one from the Blogger website and you would get paid through Google Adsense. There is also a website called Xomba where you can get paid through Google Adsense to write about anything and everything. I have the link to Xomba in my signature.

I think what you also have to ask yourself is;what drives you? Where does your passion/talents lie? Its not the answer heading to opp after opp simply because of the tempting ad copy, claims of thousands per week whilst you sleep, drive your porsche etc(don't we wish!) Secondly find a product that will appeal to the mass market. Thirdly,be prepared to put in a lot of time and effort, online marketing is a learning curve that even the most seasoned marketer is still on.Its a constantly evolving arena. My two businesses are working for me and I can tell you are most definitely legit. One is an 8 year old company, debtfree, bbb registered and also with the DSA. The other,my free business is 7 months old, already 64,000+members strong, also bbb reg and heavily involved in charity. I am with both of these for the longrun as they provide me with longterm income and security for my family. I would also disagree with those who say you have to invest x amount in order to see any tangible results,I use only free advertising resources for both my businesses and have a healthy team with both. Just my 2 cents x

Hi cybermommy
Couldn't agree with you more!
I am relatively new to online business..( though been ebay fiend for years!) but that is a bit different.. The learning curve in marketing online is perpendicular!
If you are not aware of the potential dangers it's a bit like Little Red Riding Hood.. the wolves circle waiting to pounce onto innocents wandering about looking for somewhere to make money only to find they have spent LOTS! With nothing to show for it... One thing I do understand is to LEARN... READ... try to IMPLEMENT and then EVALUATE but always you have to be willing to ask questions, look stupid and keep trying.. this stuff takes work and effort.. but like I keep saying..it is fun!

Affiliate marketing may be an option. Usually they are free to sign up to and you are paid by commission of sales.

A seasoned company with a great product is imperative, especially if it's a product that:
-you don't have to store -you don't have to ship -can be used by the masses from the comfort of home -is educational.
When your prospects see for themselves the value of the product, most of the work is done.

There are a lot of ways to make money online.
-You can provide a service: writing articles or working as a virtual assistant or Search Engine Marketing specialist.
-You can market affiliate programs. Amazon and Ebay are two big ones.
-You can get involved with direct sales/ MLM type opportunities...justbe warned that if you put little money in you will probably get onlya little out. The more you invest and the more committed you are the more likely you'll be profitable.
-You can develop and market your on niche products.
-You can sell Private Label Resale Rights products.
-You can sell tangible goods on Ebay.
Its not a question of IF you can make money. Its a question of what you want and what your skills and resources are.

I'm going to have to go along with what everyone has already said, there are a lot of home based businesses that require money and are not scams.
Also, like was said before, be careful of the get rich quick schemes as they more than likely turn out to be scams.
Since getting the program that I bought I have spent at least three hours a night building my business after I get home from my regular job, so you will definitely have to put in the hours.
So far, I really like the program that I have been using, everything is laid out nicely and they have a great support system in place.
