that fits the following criteria:
1) NOT an MLM
2) Does not require a large investment
3) Will begin to pay off within less than a month, and preferably less than two weeks
4) If possible, will utilize my skills in writing, editing and proofreading, although this is not strictly necessary.
So there you have it. Any suggestions?

How helpful. I'm aware that no investment is required to freelance, but the problem is actually getting the work. It isn't all that easy. That's why I'm looking for something BESIDES freelancing, to give me money when I don't have it coming in from freelance work.

Summer.......You can click on people's signatures to get a better idea of all the different opportunities that are out there. With my opportunity, there are 3 different levels you can buy into, so it's nice for anyone who's interested, but maybe doesn't want to come in at the top level. If you make money right away is really up to you. We have so much training and support that you can't help but get into profit mode rather quickly. Just have to be determined and put forth the effort. I wish you the best in finding an opportunity that fits you!

Since your line of work is in editing, proofreading. Why don't you write all the magazines, newspapers, even online magazines and ask them if they would be willing to hire you as a freelance editor, proofreader.
Why haven't you tried to start your own newsletter. Please you are going to need to fork out some money, but that is where you go out and hussle and get ads that will pay for your printing.
You have to do a little searching here and there. Remember success comes from ownership, and leadership.

Since you can write, have you considered blogging? You can create a blog (for free at Blogger) or on your own domain using wordpress, and start writing about something you enjoy and know something about. You can monetize this blog using adsense and other advertising tools, and also using affiliate links. You can also do paid posting for services like payperpost and blogsvertise, some of them pay really well and if you're a good writer you may have a constant stream of work coming your way.
The cost is not much to set up your own blog and the main investment is time.
I hope this is not going to be considered spamming but if you check out some of the blogs listed and ranked in the site in my sig, you will find many of them are doing exactly that, but your blog can be about any subject that you enjoy.

Everyones definitions are different so;
1. What do you consider a large investment? ($100, $500, $1000, $10000)
2. What kind of payoff are you looking for? recoop investment within a month? profit a few hundred, a few thousand/month?
3. How much time are you willing to dedicate to your success? 5 hrs/week 15, 30+
There are many different opportunities out there...some require a small investment and you get a small return, others a medium investment and a medium return, and others a good investment on yourself and a great payouts.
I know that many in my industry write ezine articles all the time as a way to promote their website and themselves as successful entreprenuers. I would recommend the same no matter what opportunity you choose. USE YOUR ABILITIES! You are only happy when you are doing what you love! So find that one thing (or multiple things) and put them to use! Thats what I did!

Exactly correct! Your ROI is equal to the time you are willing to devote to it.
IF there were a way to earn a substantial income with no work and no investment we all would be doing it.
Doctors, Atty's and those that earn a substantial income have invested a lot of time and money to get the kind of income you want to make.

Kudos to Griffiths!
The biggest misnomer in the work at home / internet business world is that you will get tremendous riches for little risk or effort - there could be nothing farther from the truth!
Of course there are those that get lucky and make a million in a short period of time but that is abnormal. Most of the gurus - Stone Evans, Shawn Casey, Tellman Knudson and others have worked for a year or more before they saw any significant return on their time and money investments.
So, all I can advise is to figure out a way to make money with skills you have (writing) and also enjoy using. Look at this is a real business and make a business plan (i.e. monthly budget and action steps). If you think of it as a sprint you will be sorely disapointed!
