I was reading a popular internet marketing newsletter and the author mentioned how he hasn't taken a break since last few years and how badly he needed it. After reading it I was wondering how many of us are in the same situation. I was until a year back. Working 7 days a week, not experiencing the joy of Sunday or a week long vacation. Things have changed a bit but I still find it hard to restrain myself from checking my sites on staurdays and sundays, like I'm doing now Even while vacationing, I have to carry my laptop (I wish I hadn't upgraded).

I honestly feel this is one of the biggest setbacks of working from home and unless you discipline yourself, it's going to take a heavy toll on your life.

Would love to know your views!

If you enjoy your work, you don't need any vacation, especially if you do not have any distraction

Very good point, Vishal. Sometimes, you have to force yourself to get away from the computer - maybe go camping to a remote area where you can't get online - it can be very refreshing.

That's why i always rest on Saturday to get away from computers and internet.

It is good to take a break, let your mind relax.
All work no play, make you a dull person

I understand, because I am the same way. As soon as I get up, the first thing I want to do do is get online and check on everything.
I do think that even if you enjoy your job, as I do, that everyone needs a break from time to time, to step out, take a look around and absorb different surroundings. It's like going out of town for a week; when you come back, you see things with a different perspective, even if you've lived there for ever.
A new perspective can be refreshing and bring forth new ideas.

Kay

I can see it both ways. I mean, if you've got some online campaigns that are really reeling in the dough, then it's going to be very FUN to check up on them and see how they are doing.

On the other hand, being away from the computer for a weekend isn't going to increase or diminish your weekend results so you could just leave the laptop at home and look forward to checking in on Monday when your break is over.

Either way works for me, but like I said, when you've got something rolling, it's just exciting to look and see how it is doing. I see no harm in that.
