Hello all. Been reading your forums today and I can see that you are all a good source of information. I have just become unemployed from a position that had very flexible hours and allowed me to work from home on a computer and a phone. I would like to continue working form home, but need some direction. There is a lot of information about the jobs/sites that are scams. Actually saw info. today on a site I surfed today and will not be following through. Thank you. Here is the most common question asked on here I'm sure, "Can anyone give me the name of a company, website, anything that is not a work at home scam?" I am kind of in a jam right now and I want to work quickly so exact sites are really appreciated. Thanking you all in advance.

Nobody will tell you they are promoting a scam opportunity. It's upto you to apply your wisdom in finding the right opportunity. The right way is to go through the forum posts regularly and find out if you develop a liking for any of the member, trust him/her. Once you trust someone, have a look at the opportunity he/she is offering. If it interests you, then go ahead. Don't take the other way around looking at the opportunities first. That's bound to make you disappointed. Because in any business it's the relationship with your sponsor that counts most than the opportunity itself.

Hello,
you are not alone in feeling this way. It is true that the world wide web is teaming with scams. You can also say that this world is full of wicked people. But it is a fact that there will always be good people in this world and you can find them if you try. There is no program which can make you rich overnight. You can always start with programs which are free to sign up, learn about the program and then take it seriously. If you are willing to spend time there are good affiliate programs which help you to earn seller's commissions.

I know exactly how you feel. I just stumbled on this site today. I remember a couple of years ago I got scammed by a program selling websites and other online features. What happens is that you do become very leery about joining anything else.
No one is going to tell you it's a scam, because some people do actually make quite a bit of money of the scams.
I'm employed full-time but my job is really on the rocks and I'm afraid the company may go under. So I've started doing independent sales for skincare, beautycare, etc. It's kind of like Avon and Mary Kay - but it's more gender friendly products and I'm more comfortable with the legitimacy.
I am always wary of any offer that says you can make thousands in minutes or be a millionaire in six months. There are programs that you can work from home and actually make some money... but I don't think many of them are quite that lucrative.
If you want to check out the products I'm selling you can see the link in my sig. I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you to everyone that has responded to my post. I will take a look at all the links that you have sent, please keep them coming.
I guess what I was also asking was has anyone actually made some decent money on any of these businesses. I can see a lot of people talking about the money misspent, and I am very sorry that has happened to any of you. Does anyone have any positive stories to share about "Hey I did this business from this company and it actually worked!"
Please forward some success stories which will give me some faith for what I am thinking of embarking on. That, or heading to the casino with every dollar I have. LoL.
Thanks.

No problems Phoenix21.. I had some bad experiences with leads sources being scams. But my program is ok. I started in July and I'm up to about $600 a month.. It's a good pace, as long as I keep building. I started off rocky at 1st. I was kinda hard-headed with my training. But once I woke up from my stubborness, my sponsors started coming in. Now I'm training all over again because I have to teach my members not to make the same mistakes I made. But I love learning and I will stay open-minded with my businesses. Now a have a few programs working together to help me build, and I like this approach much better. It's up to you. I wish you the best of luck.

best of luck hope you find what you are seeking
It seems like alot of it is trial and error but since you are taking the initiave to get the information first your already one step ahead."No matter how high the mountain you can always see the sun"
I seen this statement the other day and it can hold true to any situation. Just stay positive and the answer will come.

I've posted more work at home jobs at my message board. I hope it helps. Some of them require customer service experience though.

Hey Phoenix,
I think you came to the right place for advice.
Everyone has a sig at the bottom of their post, you should try some of those links, they are helpful.
You should also include your sig so we can see where you are at this point. Maybe some pointers from seeing what you are doing on your site. If you don't have one, start a Blog and go from there.
Good Luck in your adventure...
Joe

Phoenix,
You HAVE come to the right place. I have found that everyone on this board seems to be willing to help. So, I would advise you to spend as much time as possible visiting the websites you find in everyone's sig (as MCB mentions), decide how much time and money you want to invest into the business that appeals to you, and ask as many questions as possible from the person who's sig you followed. If they are here at this forum then they are willing to answer your questions before you spend your money and time.

Phoenix,
Many businesses out there are legitimate and money can be made, but with lots, particularly those that use multi-level marketing, it takes huge time and effort to build and maintain a downline. It's often someone joining without making the commitment to be consistent in their business. It's the same if you owned any traditional business.
Other things to look for:
1. Is the business exciting to you? I chose first, a business that seemed exciting and fun, then researched it to see if it was legit.
2. Is there mass appeal for the product? If you love the idea of selling personal care products, do it. Just be sure it's something that has value for MANY people. In my business, it's travel. I personally love travel and think that most people do.
3. Does the compensation plan allow for good income in your first year? Are you rewarded for your efforts? I chose a company where I was not dependent on a downline for my success, although my contribution to helping new people succeed will contribute to my success in many ways, including monetary.
3. Is the business plan simple and duplicatable? Choose a company that has steps outlined and FOLLOW their advice for success! If I had to pick a single error I made, this was it. I got started much later than I would have if I had followed the guidelines for success that were proven. Your goal is to generate income first, not re-invent the wheel.
4. Is there training and support that is ongoing? This is the most critical element. If this is missing, many people will quit before they even get going! I can jump on a live call daily for a motivational boost or to ask a question. I can learn from people in my organization that have been successful, even when they are not part of my direct "upline". You need constant access to updated training information and advice that is easily accessible.
Best of luck in your endeavors!

Phoenix21, why don't you consider create a website that put Google Adsense inside and get the money from it?

You've had a lot of good advice here, and I think there's not a lot for me to add except
(1) be wary of any "opportunity" that asks you for money or is not open-and-above-board about who runs the company, where they are physically located, telephone number, etc. and
(2) once you've got a "short list" of business ideas you think might suit you, check out the message boards at www.scam.com to see what other people's experiences have been.
Best of luck!

It definitely is hard to figure out what is legit and what isnt.
I am so glad I fell upon something that was legit with Agel.
Being in from the East Coast of Canada, were not exposed to all this home business stuff. Thank goodness for sites like these.
Good luck with your search.

Work at home businesses take quite a bit of time to build; experience, clients, know-how, etc.
I'm new to this board, but I'm impressed with the amount of friendly advice and encouragement I see here.
Bottom line: money doesn't come easy. Anyone who says you can make thousands while you're sleeping right from the get-go is foolish. It takes time and effort to run a home business. If they say 'Get Rich Quick', I'll pass.
