HP/ Compaq and Dell have good features and customer service. I have got a Centrino for about 41 K 2 months back. For Dell you have to prepay.

I got myself a ThinkPad (Lenovo/IBM) 6 months back and have been very satisfied with it! If looks are not important to you, then I suggest ThinkPad. Toshiba is also one of leading players in Laptop market.

I would definitley recommend the Dell Latitude business series laptops (D600-D610). They are quick, cheap and very reliable. At our office, they are the only laptops we use.

Well, I don't know how much money Rs.50,000 is, and I don't know what the selection of lap tops is like in your country, but if I were you I'd probably go with one of the well known established brands (Gateway, Dell, IBM, etc)...

Also, you might want to see if you can find some reviews of lap tops online.

I will swear by my Dell Latitude 131L series Notebook. Dell has the best customer service in the industry and from what I understand they custom make their laptops and desktops once they are ordered by the consumer. These computers are never lying dormant on shelves for months on end, which really is reassuring to the consumer. I never go elsewhere for my computer needs. Hope this helps............
