Hello, I'm relatively new to this field. I have been trying to start out with spending as little money as possible on making my site known, etc. So far the only things I paid for were my website and one ebook.
There are many paid services which I was considering getting, if they will really be worth it right now. I am trying to decide which to do first. Such as:
adwords ads
paid article submission service
listing an ebook in ebay with affiliate links and/or links to my site
word tracker keyword selection tool
adbrite ads
etc.
Any advice? If you were only going to pay for one of these things, which would it be?...

Hmmm... a tricky question indeed. For those with limited budget, it's really not worthwhile to spend your resources on any of the services you mentioned. I would always suggest some one new to spend money on something that would generate long term returns and not a one shot return, if any. For example writing articles and getting them published on authority sites.
Services like AdWords are recommended for those with large resources as they provide short term benefits. You need huge resources to test and finally come up with a winning combination.
Regarding, eBay, I'm not sure what your intentions are. Whether to give away your ebook or sell it.
Regarding paid article submission services, one has to very careful, as submitting your article to many sites at once can get your site penalized. I would usually recommend submitting to only authority article directories like ezinearticles.com and spend rest of your time in contacting publishers of authority sites one by one. It's a painful process but the returns are worth it.

This is fantastic advice... some of the best I have had in a long time.
What exactly is an "authority site?" I have submitted to enzine articles and got several referals from there as well. I found my articles on several sites now. I have submitted 3-4 articles to about 10 article sites and I have a list of more sites I could submit to. Maybe I do a little at a time...
I want to sell my book on ebay for 1 cent, really as a promotional action for my site. The ebook would have useful data on the product I sell, and links to the different pages on the site where people can find exactly what they are looking for.
I noticed it is hard to find this product (in any variety) with a quick search on ebay or google. It isn't in pricegrabber either, unless under some weird name. But there are a lot of websites (4,040,000) with that keyword, so... maybe it wasn't a niche... anyway now I'm getting off track.
I am getting more traffic though, per webstats. But not a lot - maybe 7 visitors today (don't laugh!). I am wondering, should I keep going on promoting and SEO on this, or start over with something more of a niche...

An "authority article site" as mentioned by Vishal, would be one with an established track record, in terms of recognition, reputation and delivering results.
By results I mean having your articles exposed to a wide audience of viewers, ezine publishers and webmasters.
The ability to have your articles read by thousands or even millions of people will impact your reputation, increase traffic to your site and boost sales of your products.
An alternative strategy to selling your ebook on eBay for 1 cent, would be to make it available directly from your Web site as a thank you gift for subscribing to your newsletter, for example. This would help you build a mailing list that you could nurture and market to over the longterm.

There are hundreds of articles sites there. But only a handful will deliver you the results. So spending your time submitting to all of them won't be of much use.
And by authority site, I did not refer to article sites but to those sites that are authority in their respective niches. So for "work at home" or "home based business" niche, wahm.com, hbwm.com, entrepreneur.com would be authority sites. Sure, getting your articles on these sites would be rather difficult, but not impossible. But if you succeed, it's like hitting a jackpot.

I get it. This is new data for me. I did notice that a large percentage of my visitors are from enzinearticles.com... Thanks, I will use this information.

Hi, Juno! There is a lot of free sources for visitors online.
i have never writed a single article. My english is bad.
I am not spending money for adverticing, but my website
is still #1 #2 in yahoo for "home based job"

Spend your Money on Article submission services 1st.
To me, its is the 2nd most powerful marketing technique to generating traffic.
Adbrite then followed by Adwords becasue Adbrite is cheaper and allows split testing of your ads.

1. Adwords will be the most challenging of all the opportunities you mentioned. I don't recommend doing Adwords UNLESS you have a MINIMUM of $50-100 a month to invest in advertising. Don't attempt Adwords until you have had some good mentoring and advice.
2. Why pay to have articles submitted when you can do it for free by your self?
3. An Ebay ebook (or free giveaway from your website) is a very low risk and potentially profitable strategy.
4. Word Tracker is a good tool - but it has its "quirks", if you know what I mean. It does come with a money back guarantee, so its not a bad investment, as long as you are using it for SEO or PPC advertising.

As a start, my advise is try not to pay money on these services. Try out those free marketing methods.
Those services are only for one-time. It is not worth it, if you don't want to spend any more money with them.
You might as well invest your time and effort on the free marketing methods. They will bring a long term effort on your website.
