Be very careful about paid surveys. While you can make money taking surveys (you are usually paid via Paypall), a lot of paid surveys companies are complete rip offs and you will end up wasting your time...just visit http://ripoffreport.com and type in the word "paid surveys", or "survey" and you will see what I mean.
One thing I want to mention is that I DO NOT recommend yellowsurveys.com. The reason I mention this is because some people in this forum will recommend them because they are free.......but there is something they may not realize about yellowsurveys.com.
I signed up with a bunch of survey companies through yellowsurveys.com a little over a year ago because I wanted to create my own paid surveys database, and I wanted to "scope out" various paid surveys companies to see how they paid. While I did find a few paid surveys companies which payed me, most of what I received was SPAM. This is what frequently happens when you give your email address out to paid surveys companies.
That doesn't mean, however, that all paid surveys companies are bad. There is a company called "Maximum Paid Surveys" which appears to be one of the few honest, reliable survey companies around - and they do not appear on the Ripoffreport.
So yes, you can make money taking surveys, but please BE CAREFUL...and don't fall for any paid surveys scams - and make sure to check out http://ripoffreport.com if you are considering paying for ANY paid surveys database. Also, create a dedicated email address specifically for paid surveys so you don't get a bunch of spam.
Anyway, I hope this helps!

Most legit companies either pay by check or by points which you can redeem for gift certificates

Surveys pay, for the most part in one of five ways:
1. they mail you a check, the most common way
2. they pay you via paypal
3. they send you and online e-gift card (to places like amazon)
4. they send you an actual plastic gift card (target, amazon, baned & noble, etc.)
5. you cash in points for merchandise
I have been paid in all of those ways by a total of about 45 different sites. So the only thing you have to have is an e-mail account, but for the paypal ones, obviously, you need a paypal account. Let me know if I can be of further help.

I have worked with some survey companies. They all paid me through paypal. They have a certain pay out limit. When you reach at that limit, they will pay you.
