I am in the process of trying to figure out what autoresponder to use, and I have a question....
I have been looking at Aweber, Email Aces, Get Response, and several more.......but i'm a little confused about the "autoresponder" it's self.....Some of the companies offer 1 autoresponder with unlimited messages, others offer 5 autoresponders and some offer 10...all with unlimited messages and broadcast (which i'm not sure what that is either)....
Can someone tell me why you would need more than 1 autoresponder anyway......how does this work........maybe i just thought I knew what an "autoresponder" was and was mislead.
I would love to hear your comments.
Thanks,
Sweetpea

Hi Sweetpea,
Autoresponders are of two types - Basic and Follow-up. Basic autoresponders just fire up a single email message when an email is sent to the address. Just like a vacation response. Follow-up autoresponders can send series of emails at pre-set intervals. For example, you can program it to send a welcome email immediately and then one message every 4 days or 7 days or a month (like an email course). The number of follow-up messages is only limited to the service provider.
Broadcast is the ability to send messages (other than those in sequence), for example an announcement or newsletter, to all those who have opt-in for your autoresponder messages.

Hello Sweetpea,
Quoting: sweetpea64 Can someone tell me why you would need more than 1 autoresponder anyway......
A SINGLE sequential autoresponder is really all you need to effectively control and manage a variety of Web marketing chores, such as:
1. Collecting opt-in e-mail addresses and following up with a newsletter, personalized message or multi-part e-course.
2. Allowing list members to unsubscribe automatically.
3. Broadcasting news periodically about new product launches.
4. Testing various promotional strategies, and much more.

Personally, I use Aweber and highly recommend it. Yes, it does cost $19.99 a month, but it is fairly user friendly, they have good customer service, and they offer a 30 day money back guarantee (last I checked). There are free autoresponders out there, but you often get what you don't pay for, if you get my drift...

If you want to try a free one just to get a feel use the one at www.autosenders.com I use it myself for a minicourse and they just have 1 top sponsor ad in the messages that you send which is no big deal because it says advertisement on top so people won't take it seriously and will read your message

I use Response Magic which costs $ 17.95/months It has an easy to navigate panel and seems to work fine. You can ad many different campaigns. I suppose if you want reliability then you need to pay for a service at some point. Aweber would be my choice too, they are great.

I would also highly recommend Aweber (which I use).
The reason being that they are extremely careful about spam, which is the major factor in getting your email delivered.
Most of the free autoresponder services' URLs you will use are listed with the majors (Hotmail, AOL) as spam sources, and you will end up losing up to 40% of the emails you send out to the junk mail folders, never to be seen by human eye again!
Aweber are seriously careful about staying whitelisted with all the major ISPs - for example they won't even let you import leads into their system until you show the URL that the people signed up with, and they have checked it out. They are almost fanatical, but thats good because it protects your business.
Highly recommended!

You need more than one autoresponder if you want to target different people. For example if you have two sites dealing with different topics or different topics on the same site and want to give the choice of subscribing to any topic you need more than one. Email aces is relatively cheaper and has most of the features needed in an autoresponder.
