I tried surveys and never made a penny ... not one single cent. But I did discover ways to make money online because of all the spam that signing up for those offers caused. I got paid to read emails, but I had to delete thousands a day and I only made $13.75 before I gave up on that. I even clicked for pennies and partial pennies. I quit that really fast. Someone could write a book entitled "How I Got Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Clicking for Pennies and Half Pennies etc...".
I discovered auto surfing from spam mail in mid Oct 2005. I started with 12dailypro, Studio Traffic, and 4daily. 4daily scammed everyone, reopened a month or so later, and then sold the business supposedly. Now I auto surf a little less than 30 programmes a day and I'm earning over $400/day just for auto surfing about an hour a day. It's easy work once you understand the business but getting help can be like pulling teeth. Everyone has an offer to take your money, but very few offer free advice. needmoney-- yes, there are probably a good 20 or so that I make good regular money with. Just today I got $15 from reel surveys. Feel free to check out my blog as I update that daily with sites that have paid me.
can surveys be time consuming? At first they take a big longer until you get the hang of it. now-a-days I spend about 15 minutes a day doing them and the end result it $200 or so a month plus a boatload of gift cards. Worth it to me...

i've actually made quite a bit of money doin paid surveys. It jus takes a lil while to get started. Piece of advice: NEver pay to get a database of paid surveys!!

I like survey direct, they do like 10 minute surveys for $2 or more and you usually get paid within 2 weeks, no buying anything, lightspeed and zoompanel are good survey sites to get points for stuff. have tried buzz post and got a check in the mail once out of 5 surveys.

HarrisPoll survey is also a good one.
SurveyNetworks is too.
There are several which cater to professions as well. I answered many detailed and lengthy surveys from a medical equipment company that paid very well - only problem is, if you're in a big hurry, it might not be worth it. These companies can send very long questionnaires to get their basic study group. Then they ask you to test a product or ask if you've used a particular product in your work place. And then you are required to answer many questions about that product. BUT - they paid $50-100 per survey.
You would have to search out major companies and then check their links to see if they need people to sign up to test their products. That's how I found the one I did a few surveys for. The reason I had to stop, is that I live out in the boonies and my internet connection is awful, to put it nicely, and I keep getting bumped. It's not worth my time to get so aggravated!

It took me around 7-9 years to get my own database on paid surveys I remender when they first started all this money making sites remember the pay bars anyway I was suprised to come to this site and see that people are spamming ( listing sites with your members id so you get credit when someone signs up under you.) In the early days if a co found out that you did this they took you off their database. Has things changed since then. I dont think so

This is a wild subject for me.
Of course I paid to sign up for the same
places offered for free!
BUT...I made 12 bucks! and now delete
every "mosquito" that lands in my inbox.
BUT, but Somehow I got a invitation to attend
a (very low pressure) sales pitch about a vacation
"package" and came out with a Bahama's Cruise,
a seperate stay in Laurderdale & Disney plus a 1000$
shopping spree at some online store. (K&E International)
Haha! I still smack them pesky buggers in my mailbox!

I gto $10 today from Livewire, $10 from Lightspeed, $20 from my survey, and $4 from I think Inc...
Alsoo have paid me before today as well.

Well, those ladies (and gents) knew what they were doing and they were envied. It's the same thing with surveys. Those who take the time to find the good ones and stick with it will be the ones who benefit. Good for you, happygal!

So you had to wade through lots and lots of poor, 'make money quick' advice too? It's hard to know where to turn for advice, from people who honestly know what they're talking about.
Working from home seems to be one of the hardest things to attempt, and yet people seem to look down their noses at those of us who would like to try making a living this way.
What better way to raise kids than to be able to stay at home with them and not leave them with babysitters all their life? And the days when most women didn't have to worry about working are long gone.
So, good luck in your endeavors to earn a living from home. I sometimes get stressed, but I love it just the same.

personally, i enjoy working at home. i am learning how to program, so this is the perfect opportunity.
i have been involved with paid surveys for quite some time now, and although very skeptical at first, i enjoy the opportunity to voice my opinion and get paid (i like the getting paid part more!).
even in the best jobs in the world people are sitting down, stuck to a desk. at least i have a tv and kitchen close by. and no secretary to stare at my slippers!

I have been a member of Lightspeed for years. Recently I've noticed that it is possible to get deeper into the surveys, and then to be eliminated from eligibility. I have spent as much time as 20 minutes, only to then be eliminated, with no points awarded after this investment of time.
Also, it takes an extremely long time to receive the premiums when redeeming points.
I will no longer be participating with Lightspeed.

The vast majority of the survey companies out there are scams. In fact a lot of the companies that they list in their directories state that you should ask for a refund. DO NOT PAY FOR A DIRECTORY OF PAID SURVEYS. You can go to a site like surveyclub.com and get a list of them for free. The only other site I came across for paid surveys was http://www.Surveylist.net . They seemed to have taken a different approach and bring the surveys to you with a guarantee that you'll make a $1000 in 3 months. ( I would be curious to know if anyone has tried them yet. )

Anyone who says you can make $1000 a month doing surveys is not being truthful. If they are talking about true bona fide market research surveys, it will not happen. If you get lucky, are with the right sites, fill out your profiles and check your e-mail often, you can make $100-$200 a month. But thousands just won't happen. Not that I don't think it's worth taking them, cause obviously I do. I just want people to have realistic expectations.

WebCanada is right. You should never pay for a survey list, because most of the reputable survey sites are listed for free. Yes, some companies take longer to send the $$ but it still comes. If you are signed up with a dozen or more survey panels, you'll keep busy, that's for sure.
I found the only one that bumps you from the survey after you've spent 10+ minutes on it is goZing. While they usually pay $1 to $5 dollars for their surveys, you can spend 10 to 15 minutes just getting through the question portion. You have to guess what they're going to be asking you about so that you can insert the right answers as per age, sex, and habits. BUT, if you last to the end, I have gotten $10 from several of their movie surveys. And they will place the money in a Paypal or other account rather quickly.

I've tried all of them and one time I got a $1, big waste of time.
most of the time you don't qualify, they send an email, survey available
please go to so & so website, they ask a few question, then you get a message sorry you don't qualify.

There are so many out there, but you can make enough money to pay your cable or phone bill, perhaps more depending on how many you sign up with.
If you're looking to make a LOT of money, then you may want to search elsewhere. But with surveys, especially those given by MySurvey, ask you to try certain products and then respond to questions about that product. Free merchandise!

Asbolutely, WhitePhoenix. It is worth trying. After all, other than a few minutes here and there signing up iwht good sites, you have nothing to lose and only, hopefully, things to gain.

It is also important to remember that the initial survey you are invited to is just a screener. Go ahead and take the screeners, they often lead to the product tests whitephoenix mentioned plus they often lead to a paying study. So many people just delete the screeners and miss out on a lot of great things!

Hi all,
I just signed up yesterday to do surveys from home. I hope that you veterns can help me out. I just lost both my part time jobs. (1 the company lost funding for my position and 2 my boss went to another company that already had in place people in my position.) When I go the sigh up with a company I get caught in a cycle of offers for products or subscriptions that I don't need or want. I need $CASH$ or points that I can trade for the items that I do need. How do you get the cards or items that you need without spending for stuff you don't. I just want to answer surveys and get paid.

First you need to start with a good list. There are a lot of free lists and paid lists that are full of junk survey sites. I have personally weeded through the lists and have a very legitimate list on my website. Before you get started though you must understand that you will NOT make enough to replace your income. When you look at the ads they make it sound like you will make hundreds of dollars an hour. This might be true but you will not make a hundred dollars an hour 8 hours a day. You will not make $5 dollars an hour 8 hours a day. You might make $30 one day and $1 the next day. You might not make anything for a whole week. If you want to take surveys you have to do it for fun and a little extra pocket cash. Not an income. Good luck!

I guess my main advice would be to remember that the sites that ask you to try things first or sign up for offers are NOT paid surveys. They are paid to try companies and they are two totally different things. P{aid surveys are market research. They make their money by a company hiring them to do research on a product, idea, trend, etc. The former (paid to try) make their money by having companies who pay them to get you to try things. Totally different. Are some paid to try companies worth it, sure, but many of them are not.
I list which companies I have been paid by on my blog, so I won't relist them all here, but by all means, if you have any thoughts or questions, feel free to let me know.

Well, if the paid surveys can't replace my salery ($1000 to $1500 a month) do you know anything else that I can do from home that will? I'm willing to work and I work hard, but I would also love to have a job that would allow for the flexability to enjoy my family more.

Happygal is right Teri, there are lots of options. A lot does depend on what you like and what you are willing to do. I make my income from running 2 websites, a message board and two blogs, I plan to have five more website up and running by the end of July. My money comes from affiliate programs like google adsense. I tried direct sales but found that I preferred the websites. Give us an idea of what you might like to do and we can probably point you in the right direction. Daycare? Housekeeping? Websites? Direct sales? Ebay?
