I've seen some very good resell rights packages floating around on the net, but I'm running into somewhat of a moral dilemna: it seems that there is almost no way to "know" if the website selling the resale rights "actually" owns the resale rights.

Does anyone know if there is a way to know for sure? I'd hate to think that I'm reselling an ebook in which the owner is not aware that somene else is selling...and I'm sure that does happen when people purchase resell rights packages (please note that all ebooks on my current website DO NOT fall into this category - just thought I'd mention that in case someone was "suspicious" of this).

Anyway, if anyone knows anything about this, please let me know...I actually already purchased a resale rights package on ebay, but have not done anything with it because of the moral dilemna associated with resale rights packages.

PLEASE NOTE:

You may see some ads come up for resale rights packages - please note those ads do not come from me, but those are the very kinds of products I'm questioning.

I tend to shy away from the resale right packages partly for the moral questions raised above, but mostly because in my experience they don't seem to create a sustainable business.

As a business model they are flawed, because you are creating more new competition for yourself with each sale (face it, most people aren't actually interested in the content)

Try to find something you can sell that you can get behind. It's out there, you just have to look for it.

Thanks for the reply. I do have products I promote on my website which I can stand behind (although some are better than others, which I try to point out to potential buyers) - but one of the benefits of the resell rights packages is that you can give away free content - and when you give away free content you can get people to sign up for email list and that sort of thing...I just wish there weren't so many ethical dilemnas...

I would think that if you contacted the publisher of the e-book, you'd be able to find out what their policy is regarding resell rights... and also by contacting the author of the e-book.

Perhaps it would be best to find all the answers to your questions before you purchase resell rights packages - it's only fair and then you wouldn't have to worry about the morals involved. Every author deserves to be paid for their work and not be cheated; that goes for authors, musicians or anybody else who publishes work out there on the internet.

Yeah, I agree...the one I purchased only set me back $4.95, so its not a huge loss if I don't sell or giveaway anything.

Oh, well, that's a plus then... are there any resources that you have been able to find that deal with this subject? I will also look around to see if I can find a good source , at least as far as e-books go.

Unfortunately, I havn't, and I've now posted this question in FOUR forums...

....but I did find a free ebook on Google Adsense everyone can download. It DOES NOT come with resell rights of any kind, but you can give it away. Here's the link:
