Great advice. If it seems to good to be true, it probably is. Working at home takes a lot of time and effort. There is no legal way to make money online without work.

hi. just like to add to the comments on how to spot a scam.
one good way is to put the name of the company or person in the search engine together with the word "scam" and watch the results page. if it's a scam you can be sure that someone out there knows about it and has written something on the internet as a warning. hope that helps..

I agree there are a lot of scams out there and I've contributed my fair share. However, there are legitimate work at home opportunities. I've found a few and have been working online from home for about six months. While I still continue with my day job my goal is to one day soon completely devote myself to working from home.
I try to stay away from scams with big targeted ads that cost money and while I don't mind paying for marketing materials I use those that have a money back guarantee.
I feel very confident in promoting others products at this stage but am very selective about those I choose. I use Click Bank, Commission Juntion, Share A Sale, Pay Dot Com, Link Share and others.
The idea is to research and think through any opportunity before jumping in.

The best way to identify a scam as opposed to something that could actually benefit you is to do your homework. If you are not diligent as far as reading up on a prospective program's track record, you probably are going to lose out on that transaction. No one is here to lose money, especially with the economy in the shape its in at this current time. So please DO YOUR HOMEWORK...

Hi Everyone,
Today there are so many programs all claim to have the KEY to making BIG$$$$ online. My goal is to always do a good back ground check on the company or the owner of the company before I send a DIME. This has saved me a lot of money.

Do you think dubli is a scam i want to know if I can trust to put my money with them. My freind says he already has 300 dolars from his website and he gets more if I get signed up we had afight because I was looking at a girl but its not his girl then but thanks I just wont to know.

Hi, the best thing I can say is go with your gut.If it doesn't feel right usually theres something wrong.If they make you feel pressured to buy X out.Second resource them threw Google,Yahoo any search engine you prefer.There is no greater weapon against scams then knowledge.Stay away from get rich quick schemes there is no such thing.There is only one way to get ahead and that one way is hard work and passion.There are ebooks out there that will teach you how to make money on line.Just choose wisely! Just Look for things that don't make sense or feel out of place to you somthing that feels like it is to good to be true is more than likely too good to be true

There are plenty of business scams on the internet that a person has to beware of. I want to first say just because a business charges you money to be able to start their program does not mean that it is a scam. We must realize that it takes a start up cost in order to start any business. You must however, do your homework in regards to what is being offered to you. There are sites that a person can go to that informs you of the scam offers that are out there. Beware of the get rich quick offers, or make 30 thousand in 30 day schemes. Look up the companies on the net to see if they have been reported to be scams. These sites will tell you the profit return rate of these companies as well as the level of difficulty it takes to get the business up and running. You should always look to see if the program offers a 60 day money back guarantee. It is just like the business world, you must learn to minimize your risks at certain times. You must also know when it is a time to take a risk.

Can anyone give me good advice about practicing due diligence when considering a work from home system or a make money money online system short of actually buying the product? I mean, when you say "do your homework" where can you get really good research and info on a product without putting out any money? I mean, articles are a bit biased as they tend to send you to certain products. Where is the unbiased info?

I think that homebus had the right idea about this. Put the name of the company into google and the word scam, and see what pops up. This has saved my butt so many times! Usually, this is a pretty good indication of whether or not you are looking at a whackjob con-artist type company. I actually found this website BECAUSE I was searching the company "arise" and this webpage popped up.
The other companies that I am looking at because I feel they are at least worth while to research, are the following, and I am still in the process of researching them (by that I mean that I have only started on the first one, of course)

(purportedly, NTI works with people who have disabilities. I don't know how official that has to be. I was actually making a SCAD of money from a home-based business that I took from office to home after I got my customer base. I was selling chicken, believe it or not. But then I underwent chemo this last year and lost all but about two customes so I am looking for new in-home work while I try to build my chicken business back (it took me five years to get it to the great level it WAS at. I still have a few medical complications that keep me at home a lot, but certainly able to work from here now.)

I should mention that I found these companies for further research in articles that talked about the difference between scam companies and honest companies, so I think they are worth checking out. Although I AM a generous person, I have to admit that I have posted them also to get feedback on them from you all if you have experience with any of them.
Also, I saw the post about Dubli, so I will check it as well, but just from the previous forum entry someone shared here, it looks like the jury is still out on whether or not they have cleaned up their act. My personal feeling on this company is that I would watch and wait for further online feedback as they expand into North America and see what's up.
I should mention that I have a feeling that some of these opportunities are better for those of us who have previous administrative/sales/management experience and they MAY be better for those of us who are degreed professionals - although I haven't checked that out yet so I don't know, it's just a feeling I get from reading some of the sites' initial web pages.

burningbrian - as far as I can see, cashgifting is simply another pyramid scheme that is probably trying to escape legal issues by claiming that your investment is a "gift" to others and not money used to purchase goods or to invest.
Like all good little pyramid schemes, the people at the top (the ones who signed up first) make most of the money. This will burn itself out at some point - like all good little pyramid schemes.
Could you get some money back? Maybe. In my opinion, however, it is a wholly immoral enterprise. Not that a lot of folks care about morality when it comes to money (sigh).

the way i always use to check if someone is a scammer or not is to tap their name into the search engine together with the word "scam" or "scammer" and see the results. if they are scammers you can bet your life someone somewhere has written about them. trying to find working from home ideas can be a job in itself and making money online is most people's dream. check, double check and then treble check all companies or people that you're thinking of dealing with. if possible, meet in person first and better still, meet at their offices.

Just thought I'd chime in here...
YES - you should always do your research about something if you aren't sure. Use Google and search for [Name of possible scam] + scam, or else [Name] + review.
HOWEVER - having said that, what I've noticed is that a lot of the gurus/companies putting up scams are already two steps ahead. When they launch their scam, they will ALSO put up a few web sites pretending to be honest / unbiased reviews of how wonderful and legit this new opportunity is.
How do we protect ourselves? I dunno. Just take everything with a pinch of salt, really...

Basically if it looks too good to be true then it probably is.If the value you are promised you will get is high then why are they not just repeating the process instead of wasting time selling you the product for $50 when they could be earning $100K.

Homeboy is on point, there is a lot of circular knowledge out there. People put up a lot posts and articles validating their process, so beware and try to get your research from 3rd party sources. Go with your gut, its usually right.

there are a lot of smart people here in this area. probably a lot smarter then me. I would just like to say that there are ways of making money online. sure, i have been burned several times myself, but i also have found some great opportunities. Just because a site asks for money up front does not mean that they are ripping you off. Many people have said do your homework, its true. also the whole "if sounds too good to be true it probably is" stuff, i do not believe that. There are lots of "gold mines" out there on the internet, and if you work smart, and not hard, it turns out to be a VERY good thing.

I think all the get paid to opportunities don't ask for any money .The best way to identify the get paid to website is a scam or not is if they ask for money or not .
Also , get paid to read emails , as far as my experience say never pays more than 2 cent per click .The reason is very simple .If you do a little marketing maths the things will be clear.

hey some great information on scams here i would like to list some things to help:
proof of payments are they real?
are the testomines real?? most are fake
is the support good?
do they offer a money back guareetee??

Performing due diligence is for sure the first thing you must do. But once you find a program you think you may want to join, take the time to email the owner of the program. Or you can call them if there is a number.
Also find other people in the program....try to find at least 30. I say that many because some people will say its a scam and they did not really try. And some people will say its great to get you to join under them knowing they have not signed up one person in the last 6 months.

Almost got sucked into that cell phone glitch...Thank Goodness my bank wouldn't allow me to do the transaction. After reading so many blogs on that very subject I realize it really IS a SCAM!! Thank you all for showing me the truth before I lost $$ I could'nt afford to lose.
