Are there any rules about posting on someone site. I recently noticed someone commented on my lens and said I have read this book and had a link to thier review which was promoting the exact same clickbank product as me. Now that just did not strike me well. Am I being ridiculous and is this normal, as my clickthrough rate dropped since this comment. Acvice please.

I'm not sure as far as ettiquette is concerned, but I wouldn't like this on my site. I am not familiar with squidoo, can you delete the comment?
Otherwise, I would go to their site and leave a comment linking back to your site...

Do you have it set so that you have to approve comments? That helps you avoid that as you can politely delete those comments....some people just don't get it... if THEY had worked as hard as you did, then they would know it is not proper at all to shirt-tail like that....

Unfortunately, this is the type of thing that goes on all too often when promoting online. There are people out there who simply have no shame when it comes to promoting there business.

This is normal when it come to blog commenting. Some people even use profanity when commenting and will say negitive things about your post too. As advised earlier, I would monitor my comments to delete those kind of comments which is designed to hurt you and not give an honest opinion.

Yes, unfortunately, lots of people will spam your blog posts and try and hijack your visitors. Any blogs or lenses should be regularly monitored for stuff like this.
It is fine to comment on someone's post with a link to your own website, as long as your comment is relevant and useful - but if someone is just obviously trying to get links to an affiliate site or to steal your potential buyers, then it's spam and you should be able to delete it.
On Wordpress blogs it's usually easy to monitor and delete any spam comments - but I'm not sure in your case. If there's no obvious way, perhaps you should contact the support desk to find out how to do this.

There will always be the annoying "smart-ass" who tries to pull a fast one on you and hijack your comments thread. But as lensmaster you have the last word. It's "Delete!" 
First, you can block self-serving and malicious comments at the pass by setting your Guestbook module to require your approval for all comments. This way you can delete those you don't want published.
Here's how:
From your Squidoo Dashboard...
1. Click the Edit button on the Guestbook module. The Options tab will be displayed by default.
2. Click the dropdown box below "When should their blurbs be approved?" and choose Ask me first.
3. Click Save
Otherwise, you can simply delete unwanted comments.
1. Click the Edit button on the Guestbook module.
2. Click the Current Blurbs tab. This gives you access to ALL comments appearing on your lens.
3. Click the Delete link next to the blurb you want to remove.
4. Click Save.
There you go! How sweet is that!

In the area of emails,surfing,attachments,spam,etc. Since much of it is unwritten what do you feel it means to be a good Netizen (citizen of the Internet).It is good internet etiquette if you have a website to notify another webmaster with an email when you link to a page on his site.
