Hello, My husband and I have spnt the last few days doing extensive research in to affiliate marketing and adsense...we still do not completely understand all of it, but what we want to know is that can money really be made doing this and if so what is the best avenue to do this? Can we do affiliate marketing if we have a blog site....What is the best avenue to get our own website. WE are prepared to put work in ,but don't want to waste our money on something...any input would be helpfull. My husband is a writer and published author so blogging is somthing that interests him..
Thanks again

Welcome to the forum.
I do both website and blogs - plus Squidoo and whatever else I have floating out there - lol, but mostly blogs and SBI site.
I have made the most from my blogs as that is what I have promoted mostly, up to this point but am expecting my SBI site to outdo that in the near future... It is free to blog and a great way to get familiar with various affiliate programs and how they work... so I would suggest starting with that and see where it leads for you.
Have fun and hope to see you around.

Hi Irishboys,
It's great that you are doing your research up front. It took me a few months of research and trial and error before I found something that I understood enough to...
1. Believe in 2. Take a chance on
I'm the skeptical sort who pinches pennies till they squeal.
I ran across SiteBuildIt (SBI) and the light bulb went on in my head. Everything started to make sense and made me believe I could really do this.
I took the plunge and parted with my money (well, credit card to be completely honest) and have never regreted it for a moment.
There are various ways to "do" affiliate marketing, but it's my belief that their program has the most sound business sense behind it and their success rate is tremendous.
Well, I'm definitely a biased customer and I'm also an affiliate for SBI, so you wouldn't be faulted in thinking I have a vested interest. However, I genuinely believe in the program as someone who is a real live user. I'm not making a fortune (by any stretch), but I am making more than I've ever made in my life in an offline job, so I'm tickled pink.
Feel free to ask more questions as needed. (By the way, I replied to your private message, too.)
Blessings, Angie

If you want to start an online business without any investment, then affiliate marketing, adsense, CPA might be suitable for you.
But they need time and effort to work on it before you start seeing results. The results are heavily dependent on what you did.
Since your husband is a writer, you can promote the products by writing articles and submit them to article directories.

Slow down everybody . Give irishboys a break. She's totally new
Step by step. First you have a blog, your husband is a writer, and you don't want to waste any money before you start making money.
Good. Let's try to make money with your blog.
Does your blog have an orientation? By that I mean do you write about very related topics or just anything?
If your blog is oriented, you can do a google search about the most relevant keywords to your blog and see how many sponsored links show up (at the top or at the right side). If many ads show up then you can implement at least two streams of income: 1. Adsense advertising (in case you blog is not hosted by google). 2. Affiliate marketing (just search for that same key word + affiliate program). You can also find some in clickbank.com and paydotcom.com.
If the oppoiste happens (you search the most relevant keyword to your blog content and find no or a few sponsored links) you can make some money with CPA (commission per action) network offers that pay PER LEAD not per sale.
If your blog is about everything under the sun, you can make money with adsense, but you can't have any exact expectations.
Now without people seeing your blog you are not making any money. You need to drag traffic to your blog. And it's only worth it in the first cenario (a lot of sponsored links in google search for your keywords).
The best way to drag organic traffic to your site (traffic from search engine results) is to write articles about your blog and publish them in article directories like ezineartiles. Equally important is to make squidoo lenses related to your blog content and link those lenses to your blog. There are other sites like squidoo.com and they are collectively termed web 2.0 sites.
My personal advice is that you let your husband write the blog posts, and you write the articles and the web 2.0 sites contents or vice versa. You can alternate jobs if you like. I know it sounds weired but I feel that the writer of the blog posts and the writer of the "promotional articles" have to be different.
I apologize for repeating myself, I hope I gave you a better idea of what is waiting for you.

It might be a good idea to learn internet marketing skills which you can do by joining the 30 Day Challenge it's free and designed for newbies. As well as join the Warrior forum there is a lot to learn there as well. Good luck with your online adventure. Sonni

Hi Stacy,
To sum up what many have said, it takes several months to identify and understand the fundamental components of online marketing. So, take your time, commit for the long haul, write what you know about, and enjoy the process.
I concur with Sonni - The free 30 Day Challenge is a great place to start.
Rack up theory, develop the needed skills, research a chosen niche, plan your strategy, implement, monitor, tweak, repeat. You might use that as a general template.
Read around in this forum and within online marketing sites.
Spend the time, don't rush anything, put in the effort, and you'll be golden.

Just type 30 day challenge in your browser. You will find it. The guys name is Ed Dale I think. Lots of helpful information here. Pot Pie girl has a one week marketing plan that is good as well. Lots of people here recommend that one as well.

Hi,
I have been internet marketer as 5 months now. I have made some money but, not enough for living..
I am doing it as full time right now, fortunately, I don't pay any bills at home..(My parents does)
So, I can concentrate on My business.!!
I am not going to quit or give up even though this isn't growing as fast as I expected..
I Believe, next decade of world will be dominated by computer from small things to almost everything!!
That's why I am sticking on, and try to start my career as internet business entrepreneur.
Preparing for future.( It's too late to start when Internet business is around world as people's favorite job) 8)
That's my motivation
Happy day~^^

Okay I think we have narrowed it down...we like what we see with My online Income System as well as SBI. Are these things similar? Will each of them give us the same thing? And is so why is on so much cheaper than the other? Please help me decide which one would be best for us. WE have no xperience building websites and have never down affiliate marketing before. Does anyone knowif you can promote clickbank on your SBI if I go that route? Thanks much appreciated. We have been looking now and resarching for a few weeks and there is so much out there, our minds are getting boggled..we want something that is easy to follow and will get us good results....

Happy Wife can tell you all about SBI. It actually helps you build your own website I think. Not to overwhelm you or anything, but I used the one week marketing plan by pot pie girl to promote click bank products and you can find that in the sig link of Mountain Mom I think.
I have been at this for months and its just now starting to make sense. So much to learn. I just learned yesterday a little about rss feeds. I had no clue. One thing I can tell you, these great people here will answer your questions and help you. No question is to stupid, so ask it.

I recently began my internet marketing journey, and I used Profit Lance.
I have been very happy so far with Profit Lance. The system is geared toward beginners, it has comprehensive information about, blogging article writing, affiliate marketing, adsense and how to successfully bring it all together.
The cost of the program is reasonable ($77 right now) and you get access for life. They include training videos and step by step activities to help get your business going.
I have been pleased with the product ad I'm sure you will too. Let me know if you have any questions.

It takes 3 things to complete a fire triangle!
1. Oxygen 2. Heat 3. Fuel
It takes 3 things to complete a affiliate income
1. Buying Keyword 2. Qualifying Ad 3. Product That Solves The Problem
The best way to learn buying keyword is to go out and buy digital product online and note the process!
Let's say I have $100 to spend, I am going to look for the best next I am going to compare the best next I am going to read reviews next I am looking for discount next I am looking for bundle and bonus next I am going to search for the authority site with .com
Now make your shopping to $1000 then you are going to look for testimonials this where word of mouth is powerful
Most of the marketer start with word of mouth, and they get lost in it... like web2.0
Qualifying Ad. Let me clarify this, the ad must qualify the visitors that comes to your page.
Here is an example.
Now HiringWork At Home) Job Requires: Basic Computer Skills Your Own Home Computer. Weekly Pay.
Do you see how it qualifies the visitors before people come to your site? If your ad does not qualify, you will get ton of clicks with no sale. Learn to qualify is the biggest lesson for me
Practice spotting Ads that qualify
With clickbank, you can find out if the product is solving the markets problem... look at the gravity over time! if the product can maintain over 100 over a long period of time, you want to pay attention to that product... go to cbengine.com and check the gravity graph
Thank you for your post, and I appreciate all new affiliates because you reminded me the excitement i had when i got my first sale.
Peace
