Hi all. I'm not currently working from home but it's something I'd like to get underway soon.
Just wondering what impact the recession is having on people who make money online. Are you making less profit in general? Same amount of total profit but from different niche's/areas? No difference? I'm wondering whether there is any point in starting now or if I should wait until the economy picks up a little.
Let me know how things are going for y'all.
Thanks, Josie

Hi Josie,
I haven't noticed any significant drop in my online income. I'm averaging more per month this year than I was last year, so that's a good thing.
There are always going to be variables and possible slumps based on your niche topic, but overall, I think NOW is an ideal time to start.
It takes time to build up an online business. If you started a niche website now, you would have a lovely foundation built and a growing business. When the economy does make an upturn, you will be already positioned to take advantage of those in a buying frame of mind.
As long as you are doing it right, you certainly won't be wasting your time.
Blessings, Angie

I second what Angie has said. Just find a good niche where people will spend their dollars in, regardless what the economy is doing, and you will be fine.

The recession will have an impact on all marketplaces.
In some markets, the impact will be positive. In others it will be negative.
So, it really depends upon the market you choose.
That said, there's never a perfect time to start your business. Just get out there and do it!

Online business doesn't seems to be affected by the economy. There are still people buying from online.

One of the great things about marketing online is that you have the luxury of being very resourceful in the different niche choices that you make. Some of the most motivated buyers are people that are in life transitions and this recession is definitely creating those transitions for a lot of folks.

True, but there is the danger that these "motivated buyers" are mislead into thinking that an online business is a quick solution to their financial difficulties when it is anything but.
People constantly need to be reminded that creating an online business takes a lot of time and effort upfront before they will see any monetary rewards.
When folks need work/money NOW, an online business is not the answer.

Thanks to everyone that answered! Particularly Angie, you make a lot of sense. I should get started now so I'll be ready when the economy picks up. Cheers.
