that I can see my way clear to do. My name I want is available. But I also see, in order to actually use that name on a webpage, I need to sign up for webhosting(with a webhost). There are soooooooo many and I think even free ones. I guess my main question needs to be this. If the site I sign up with to host my website, give me the tools I need to build it, design it etc. comes up short as I grow my biz, is it hard to "transfer" my webpage to another webhost or is it even possible?

Hi Denise,
I would double check with the site builder you are considering using.

For the most part, everything should be transferable.

You can use Weebly to build a free website and blog, offering free hosting and a sub-domain, or you may purchase a domain on the spot.

Weebly is super easy and a lot of fun.

I hope this helps you,
Victoria

Hi Denise,
As far as I know, most websites are able to transfer.
In my opinion, you might want to consider a "cheap" web hosting company. You pay once for the year. Usually under $10.
By doing this you can get your own e-mail address. For example:
[email protected]
You can then get into more and more affiliate marketing programs.
If you need more info on that then look around on here, or you can always PM me.

Hi Denise,

I'd suggest learning the fundamentals of online marketing first. Then consider Squidoo. Then perhaps you might purchase a domain name and host it for free (as per Victoria's suggestion).

Paid hosting should come last - when you know what you are doing based on studies and experimentation or it will likely be a waste of time and money.

Hi Denise

I would strongly you sign up for Hostagor for your web hosting. This is the one I am using and the service is tip top. Furthermore, for under $10 ($9.95 to be exact) a month you can host unlimited domain! This is good if you are serious of building your online business. If you need more impartial reviews, just google for it.

I personally do not recommend for free host as they are many restrictions.

As for the webside editor, I use Komposer and NVU. It's free. Step by step free tutorials are available. Apart from the tutorials, there is a forum that you can post your questions. It's good enough for beginner especially if you need to build simple websites. For your information, hostagor also has a site builder that you can consider using.

Webpages are easily transferable. I use filezella. Again it's free and you can download a copy at filezella.com.

Hope the above helps.

You don't have to have a web hosting if you only purchase the domain name. You can redirect the domain name to the free webhosting site. Then you will only need to pay for your domain name.
