Hi my name is Yvette. I am a mother of 3. I worked at home full time for 5 years as a medical transcriptionist. I was offered an opportunity to work outside the home at a higher salary and took it. My children are older now and in school. In the meantime, my daughter is pregnant and expecting in May. She has college to finish and I do not look forward to any daycare. After a long talk with my husband, it was decided to trade places for a while and I continue to work outside the home. Although my husband helped me with transcription, it is not something he could take on as a primary responsibility, as I took care of all the proofing, formating, etc. There is no way I can balance transcription and working full time at the office.
I am at a complete loss at ideas for a stay at home grandpa. I guess what I am trying to say to make a long story short, is what is available that is a legit work at home business. Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated. I have read through lots of posts on the forum but when researching some of the ideas, the words SCAM can really be scary.
He has a background in fast food management and is really burned out in that career. I have considered selling small e-books related to medical transcription but there does not appear to be a high interest for that. Is there a real market for web design and such? I see a lot of posts related to that but is there a real market for that particular avenue. MLMs are real scary to me. I have been burned with one before.
Thanks for taking the time to read and giving any advice that you can.
Yvette

Honestly I wouldn't suggest that avenue. It's highly competitive and it can take years to establish yourself.

Hello Yvette,
The one thing you need to do when seeking any type of work from home is make sure you research the company/opportunity. While you saw many such warnings and cautions against scams in this forum, you will also see that there are many that are also beneficial and legitimate.
As with anything however, developing a job and a client list from your home will take time. But with hard work and determination, it will pay off. Just don't part with any money without thoroughly checking it out first.
Good Luck with your search. There are many wonderful people in this forum who will be more than happy to help you or answer your questions.

Hello,
If you ever look at MLM businesses be careful there are many scams like you said and have read about.
One reason people get burned is becasue they do not read the policies and procedures of the companies that they join. If you have a company you are looking at I can take a look at the P&P for you to see if there are any gotchas in there.

Please excuse me for not posting back in a timely manner. The past couple of weeks have been crazy.
Thank you so much for the information. At this time, we do not have a stable business or stable work at home opportunity. I invested in some graphic software and such still considering graphics and design. I also decided to write an e-book on medical transcription and working from home. I have put that on E-bay to see how it does. It is an awesome opportunity and I transcribed for years but I cannot continue to do everything...lol... I need something that my husband can do without me looking over his shoulder...lol...
Another idea we came up with was candy wrappers and crafts. There is a craft fair next week, so we have been busy trying to get things together for that. My daughter is pitching in and helping out with the crafts. My husband is getting discouraged. I have so many ideas but they all seem out of reach at this time.
Again, thanks so much for the information and I will check back often for other ideas.
Wish me luck on my e-book... lol
Thanks,
Yvette
