Is anyone here earning extra income with Google Adsense? If you work it right it can be a great way to start a work at home business.

I use Google Adsense on my sites as an extra income stream. It is very effective and is easy to implement. It's a nice complement to other monetization methods or even on it's own.

I use google adsense on my webpages, squidoo lens and hub pages. It gains a small amount of income but not much really.

Making website/blog and putting adsense ads on every webpage is one part of whole story. Once your website/blog is up with adsense ads on it, you have to religiously promote it. remember More Traffic = More Money Some where I read that 75% time you give to your website should go into its promotion.

I just contacted by them and they've asked me to pay $1.97 to start. I am weary of giving my credit card on the phone. They were going through a sales pitch and I was at work and didn't have the time to speak.
I don't have a blog or a website now. Should I go for this?

The big thing to earn money online with Adsense is to make sure you are getting good traffic. I would also encourage you to promote affiliate programs and not just rely on Adsense. Finally, with Adsense, in my experience, the bigger the ad the better - I would suggest placing a 336 by 280 Adsense ad at the top of your website.

Bob is right, Google doesn't charge anything for Adsense. It must have been someone else that contacted you.

I went on to a link (not sure where I got it from, either on this forum or the net) and I filled out my info. They then called me and went through a sales pitch and wanted me to pay $1.97 to get started.
It sounded fishy and I said no.
How do I get started with Google Adsense?

Hi Bronze,
Here is the Google Adsense main page:
https://www.google.com/adsense/login/en_US/index.html
Click the link (currently below the blue box) that says:
"solutions for publishers!"
FYI - here's the actual sign up page:
https://www.google.com/adsense/g-app-single-1?apply=Click+Here+to+Apply
FYI - Adsense is for publishers - those who wish to put it on their sites to earn money on either impressions or clicks.
I hope that you understand the fundamentals of online marketing and have good writing skills before you sign up for Adsense.
To get a free dose of online marketing you might sign up for the free 30 Day Challenge first here:

Good luck in either case,

Yes adsense is free, there should be no one ever asking you to pay any fee for adsense. Once you do have an account and get your web site all set you will want to promote it as much as you can, that really is the job. Also, you will probably want to put a link to your site on your signature for forums like this one, however, be sure not to just spam useless massages only to get your web site link out there.
