I have been all up and down the rankings there with my different lenses. I have 10 or so lenses. All different subjects. It's fun. But I use them more to give my youtube videos backlinks which drives them up the search engines nicely. So they have indirectly made me tens of thousands of dollars.
How much did I make last month? $8.00 and some change. I give it to a charity called Blood/Water.
Peace

How much traffic do your lenses get? Also can you share how you make money with Youtube?

My traffic on Squidoo varies greatly from month to month.
Again, I don't attempt to create lenses that get good organic traffic from other squidoo users. I create lenses based on current market events.
For example, when Rich Schefren launched his E book called The Attention Age Doctrine (which was all about how to get attention using web 2.0 technologies), I created a lens that was backed by several videos. The point was that I could use his launch and grab some of the organic attention that was on him for his launch and bring it to myself and my own business.
So that particular squidoo page got a TON of traffic for about a month until Rich's launch sort of died down a bit.
But I got LOT'S of attention from it and the squidoo page gave me credibility and back links. As a matter of fact, if you go to youtube OR google and type in "The Attention Age Doctrine" (Rich's e book title!), you will see my face at the top of both search engine results!
Then you will see that video is attached to one of the squidoo lens'. I created sort of a funnel around Rich's launch. You could not look for him without finding me.
So that is the long answer.
How do I make money with video? I use video to get traffic. Lot's and lots and lot's of it..to my various business'.
Some of my techniques are easy and obvious. Some I flat out don't share with anyone.
I don't spend any money on advertising...ever. But I get 30 + very targeted leads to my squeeze page everyday. THESE LEADS COME AFTER THEY HAVE ALREADY GOTTEN TO KNOW ME, LIKE ME AND TRUST ME ON ONE OF MY VIDEOS! So to say it's more targeted than a standard lead would be a gross understatement.
I hope that helps you understand.

Hi Danny,
Congrats. You're practicing some good methods. Using Squidoo lens PR gives your backlinks to your vids some umph. Riding the web 2.0 wave and making pages or sites based on current trends or new buzz is a favorite method of mine.
I also like to diversify and create multi-page sites that last for years.

Hi Samran,
If you build a decent lens and drive decent daily traffic to it you will do much better. You make money in three ways on Squidoo:
Coop pay Money module pay Affiliate links
Affiliate links pay the most. Money modules are premade templates for Amazon, Ebay, etc that you may tweak to your liking. Coop pay is Adsense.
Coop pay is split into three tier payout levels according to lens rank, which is largely determined by the amount of average traffic per month.
The lowest ranking lenses only make a few cents per lens. Apparently your lenses don't rank well. I don't know what the cut off for each tier is but I know that I was paid according to the highest tier because I rank well with all four of my own lenses.
Do your SEO research before you create the lens. Then you will get decent organic traffic and you won't have to worry much about updating the lens.
If you want to make money you'll have to work at it. Squidoo makes it quicker and easier, but you can't just toss up unresearched junk and expect that your lenses will do well.
If you'd like me to look at your lenses you can pm me with their addresses. Perhaps I can help.

I made $8.00 from my lenses last month too. What a coincidence. I currenly have four lenses, but deleted some. One of which got a lot of traffic for awhile - 100's of hits per day. There are lots of ways to increase traffic to Squidoo pages, one of the most important things you can do is get a good long-tail keyword phrase as the title of the page and the url. If you get that right you can build on it.

Hi Marktech,
100's of hits per day is excellent if you can sustain that. Longtails in the title and url are good, you are right.
Here's a tip: Put your main keyword phrase in the title and in the url. Then make your module titles relevant keyword phrases. This will serve as an outline. Develop the body text in each module. Make sure you are using keywords in each body, but don't over-stuff it. Use 1-5 tags and there you have it: a nicely SEOed lens.

Lenses with catchy information generate good money. My best ranked 5 lenses generate around $ 20 last month. I think it was pretty decent.

I made $20 but not sure by what..they say it's royalty. I only have 2 lens but i like it and i think the search engines do too. Because when i submit the site in no time my lens was on the first page.

I just received my first payout from Squidoo and nearly fell off my chair when I saw it. I did not realize the potential of creating lenses, -I was just having a lot of fun making them and became slightly addicted. I've got about 35 lenses now and a few more that I'm still working on.

I have found Squidoo a really good way of promoting online. I have managed to get on the top page of google with keywords I have targeted in 3 days or less. I always do some keyword research before writing my lenses so that I can include it in my squidoo URL. I have made little from Squidoo as such, but I have made money from affiliate programs that I have recommended in my lenses.
One lens I wrote made me $250 last month from the affiliate program I was recommending, and they only pay $2.00 a referral! I wrote the lens nearly a year ago. It started with a small amount of commission. Then about December it went up to a $100 a day, and has steadily increased each month.
If you are trying to market using squidoo, you need to be patient and make sure that there is plenty of content on your lens. I have written some lenses by just re-writing the copy from the affiliate program that I am promoting. But these tend not to work to well. I have found that if you write original content in a conversational manner people feel they know you and will often buy.
Puting in plexo modules is a good way to get repeat visitors. I wrote one lens about marketing your Ebay store on Squidoo and allowed people to put a link to their store via the lens. I then made a few posts to one of the Ebay forums about the lens. My lens was soon in the top 100 lenses in a couple of weeks. People are still visiting to add their store even now, although traffic has dropped off.
Squidoo is one of the best tools for affiliate marketing that I have found. Getting paid to write your lenses is a bonus.

LOL - I have a whopping $2.86 in my account now
I do not use Squidoo as a means to make money with them - but rather to direct traffic to other sites as Google likes them and it is much easier to get organic traffic with the Squidoo lenses than with a blog or at least it has been for me... and they are actually quite addicting.
Seems I learn how to do something new almost every time I build a new lens...

Yes, this is exactly why I use Squidoo. I make consistent sales in affiliate marketing using Squidoo pages to rank well.
Keep it going.

Between July and September, I got $2.05. Will this improve? Now I have 30 lenses with visits ranging from 0 to 30+ visits per month.

Hi businessonapage,
That depends upon your lensrank for each lens, your traffic, the quality of your content, your authority on Squidoo, etc.
Is each lens SEOd with in demand phrases? That's another big concern.
Treat each lens like a page on a self-hosted site. Tweak every area in regards to optimization.
That will maximize your chances of making a reasonable income from your lens collection.
Know everything you can about online marketing and apply it to your lenses.

Thanks Newbie Shield,
You said in an earlier post,
Newbie Shield: If you'd like me to look at your lenses you can pm me with their addresses. Perhaps I can help.
Would it be alright if I take up this offer?
My site with the 30+ traffic per month is an information directory. I would love to soundboard what my audience is looking for and what they could purchase from the site. Now that I have traffic, I'm hoping to work out a way to convert it to income.

Hi businessonapage,
You can if you wish.
You might just post the lens addy in your sig for a few days so we can all learn from the resulting interaction. After a few days, you can change your sig back to the way it is now if you like.
That way you'll also get more traffic to that lens

PS. I think I found the lens you spoke of - the BPM lens, which is your highest ranking lens. Excellent BPM resource directory and good job on the lens.

Hi Steven,
You're welcome. It's better if you ask in public rather than via PM so that everyone can benefit from the interaction of the forum members. Hopefully others will join in on the conversation.

Hi Newbie, I'm back again. Ready for a chat. Starting from the first point (from what you wrote above) I am happy to report that the lens ranked today at #3713 and there have been 456 visits in the last 30 days.
Interestingly, in the last week I think the page slipped as far back as 8,000.
The only differences I can see were 1) I added a picture in the introduction after we last wrote, 2) I placed the link to it in the signature on this forum and 3) someone (was it you?) left a comment on the page and made it a favourite.
These are good to help with the ranking but I guess like the others in this forum, I'm wondering if this can convert to dollars.
Also, my stats for the month only show amounts available up to September 2008. Is this the same for anyone else? I'm not sure if I haven't earned anything during this period or whether the amount for October and November maybe different for September.
