Hello, I am fairly new to affiliate marketing. I have a couple of ideas that I am going to try. Unfortunately I am a complete n00b at it. I have been dealing with Clickbank for a while, but have only received a few sales from posting on Craigslist. Kind of a waste of my time, but it is a start. I started doing this to supplement my income when my retail business started to fail in this blown out economy. Sadly I have been forced to close it and am filing for bankruptcy to get out of the 50k debt that I accumulated. I took a job as a mechanic (thats what I did before retail) and am dealing with a HUGE pay cut. (around 50% YIKES) Tough as heck, but I know that affiliate marketing is what I want to learn. Looking forward to getting some insight from you guys, and maybe be able to find a mentor. Sorry so wind bagged, but I am kinda that way. See you around!

I am pretty much sad to hear this. But in internet there are lot of ways to earn. All you have to do is wait, learn and apply. Just experiment and you would be a happy person in future.

Hi Crackalackin,
Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I seem to hear more and more stories like yours all the time. We're definitely in tough times.
I'm wondering about your retail business. I don't know much about filing for bankruptcy. Are you allowed to keep your stock? Is it the type of products you can sell online?
I guess I'm just curious as to whether or not you could combine affiliate marketing and selling your own products in a niche website. What type of business did you have, if you don't mind saying?
Is it something you enjoyed? If so, taking it online may be a genuine option for you. Affiliate marketing is great, but you can usually make a higher profit margin when you have your own hardgoods, so you may not want to throw the baby out with the bath water.
Even if you only sell the hardgoods you already have in stock and then stick with affiliate marketing afterward, it's worth considering - depending on the niche.
If you'd like to give more detail, maybe we can brainstorm a bit with you.
All the best, Angie

Hi Crackalackin,
Welcome to the forum. You are doing the right thing by working a job as you figure out the affiliate marketing thing.
So you have made sales on Craigslist?
That is good... you chose a product that sells.... have you ever considered using SBI (SiteBuildIt) to help you cast a big web on the net where you can eventually make those CB sales along with a host of other things that you can add whenever your heart desires once your site is established.
SBI is hands down, one of the best systems online to do affiliate marketing with.

I feel like I have a leg up on those 9-5ers out there....I also was laid off....same old story. Keep your head up and use the forums. They're great!
