Here's a list of windows software that I possibly can't live without:
1. Macromedia Dreamweaver
Most of my web page editing is done with Dreamweaver. I don't use it frequently anymore as most of my time is spent on building this forum which doesn't need offline editing.
2. UltraEdit Text Editor
This won't be of much use if you do just plain text editing. However, if you write/edit programs, you'll find this tool indispensable.
3. CuteFTP
My favorite ftp client.
4. ClipMate
If you do frequent copying/editing you'll just love this software. Not just that, you'll also find it very useful while browsing, searching for information, etc. Just copy whatever interests you and lo! you have it stored automatically by the software in it's database. Retrieval of information is also effortless.
5. LifeJournal
This is the latest addition to my list. Basically I use it to monitor my health based on diet, exercise, stress. Apart from that this software has made me love journaling
What are your favorite software and tools? I'm sure we'll benefit from each other's list.

My favorite software is QuickBooksPro 2005. It keeps my business organized, helps me keep inventory, invoices, and monitors just about everything my business does. OmniAccountant has a great web site that also offers training and support, which makes this program easier to use. It cost me about $250, give or take, and comes with a manual to look up questions you might have. I have always prefered a manual, rather than bouncing back and forth from the program to the Internet. A person can also become QuickBook certified after they have had had a certain amount of practice using this program. This can lead to a whole new work at home carreer in itself- bookkeeping at home. I'd say the $250 is a pretty good investment.
The program does have lots of details to learn, but seems to be pretty user friendly. The sight has online tutorials, which I've found to be very helpful. The hardest thing about finding the web site is that if you enter QuickBooks, your search will be led all over the place. Type in OmniAccountant, and you'll be there in a snap.
Have a great day.

Mine would be GNU Emacs. I do everything there I mainly write anyway and it is nice that I could do word count and spellcheck there too. It's really nice. Plus, there's this Planner Mode and ToDoo mode that helps me organize my thoughts, my schedules and to-do's.

How come you don't use FTP with Macromedia Dreamweaver? I find it as a seamless process.

In addition to Dreamweaver, I also use UltraEdit many times to edit web pages/templates/scripts. As a result I usually don't like to use integrated ftp tools.

I have been using FTP Explorer for years. It's very user friendly and I've never had trouble with it.
Some of my other fav's are:
M/S Excel (Though I'm still learning what this program can do!)
Stationary Maker- (for ALL my business needs; business cares, bulletins, flyers, etc.)
M/S Streets & Trips - I travel fairly frequently and this is one of the best 'map' programs I've used. Very detailed, very good printed instructions and multiple 'trip' options. I used it a lot.
Wolfenstein and CSI - desktop games - for those moments when I need a break!

ActiveWords
This is one powerful software. I like productivity software and sometimes even though I may not need it much I love to try out new software.
For those who haven't heard of this, what this software basically does is, it gives you power to execute all repititive tasks with the help of words. For example typing "word" + F8 will open your word processor, typing ya + F8 will open your browser and navigate to yahoo.com. While these may not be compelling enough examples for you to try out the software, there are dozens of other exciting things you can do with this. List includes:
* Text substitutions
* Launch programs
* Open documents/folders
* Navigate to Internet sites
* Send emails
* Open windows settings
* Scripting
What I loved most was the scripting part. You can write simple scripts to carry out automated tasks. For example I wrote a simple script to delete members of this forum who spam. When I invoke this script (using 3 letters), it asks for the UserID of member to be removed, opens new browser window, navigates to Remove User section in Admin Panel, enters user ID, checks certain check-box, hits enter!! Amazing, isn't it?
You can program it to do almost anything you can do with your Keyboard.
Do I sound like an affiliate for this software?

Best macro program available, you can also export macro's to other computers. I use it on my desktop and my laptop, a real time save, and easy to use.

Hey guys,
These days I use Microsoft Anti-Spyware instead of Spybot, it's free and easy.
I use AVG also for Anti-Virus, Never had a problem with it or viruses since installation (fingers crossed).
I use ABYKUS for my accounting, but it can be used for any type of spreadsheet plus functions. Very versitile.
