This is for the newbies browsing the forum... first of all, welcome and congratulations for having found this forum.

I remember not so very long ago that I was feeling very green and new on here!

In my opinion, it is one of the best and friendliest work at home forums on the 'net.

I just want to take a minute to let you know that there are quite a few of us on the forums here that have been here awhile, and we do a variety of things to make an income from home - some are full time at it, and others are part time...

One thing we ALL have in common is that we were ALL at one time in the exact same spot that you are in right now .... researching and feeling overwhelmed and wishing that we could just somehow be transported to the 'other side' where it all made sense....

It will all start coming together for you if you are diligent in your research and are not afraid to ask questions, whether that be individually by sending a message thru the private message system or being brave and asking thru the forum...

Whatever the case, do not let anyone or anything stop you from pursuing your dream of becoming financially independent with means other than a normal 9-5 job!

I wish you all a very happy and prosperous New Year - and may your story be a 'brand new story ' this time next year!

Mountainmom... I am new here... just signed up tonight. I'm usually nervous to post on sites because of the sometime negative responses you get. I actually did make a post tonight asking for someone to help guide me in the right directions in order to start learning about getting started. Your post made me feel much better about finally posting on a forum, specifically this one. Thank you for making me feel welcome. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Thanks mountainmom5. It makes me feel good whenever I see someone willing to go out of her way to offer encouragement to another. I really appreciate it. Hopefully one day I can be the one helping the newbies.

Hi, this is my first forum that I have belonged to and I am not sure of myself as to what we do here. I think we discuss topics pertaining to our home based business, and what goes on in our life. I believe it is a place to make new on line friends.
Am I close?

Hi mountainmom5!!
This is my first post here. Thanks for showing me this site!

To everyone else,
My name is Daye. I am a stay at home mom of a 13 year old son, , a crazy Harley riding husband, 2 potbelly pigs, and 7 dogs!!
I am just learning all the work at home stuff. But let me tell you, if it wasnt for these kind of forums I would be lost!!

I always thought every work at home opportunity was a scam. I was scared to try anything. I have learned thats not true at all. Yes there will always be scammers, but you will also meet a lot of honest friendly people.

Mountainmom5 has helped me so much. If it wasnt for her I think I would still be just reading everyones posts about their online acheivments.

So, Thank You Mountainmom5!!!!!

Daye

Welcome Daye! I'm so glad you found Mountainmom5 (Viola) to be a help to you. She's always a bright light here in the forums.

My hubby's a Harley lover, too. He doesn't own one yet. He has to settle for Yamahas and Hondas at the moment, but I hope to surprise him with one someday (hopefully not too far into the future). Good thing he doesn't visit this forum or I'd give the game away!

It took me a while to weed through the scams of online marketing too, but if you are careful and sensible, you can mind some nuggets that really do provide you with an honest and reliable business.

Have fun with it!
Blessings,
Angie

I am new to this website but I like it already. You learn a lot from people posting here who are or were in the same position as me in terms of learning about internet marketing. Thanks Vishal.

Since there are so many work at home scams out there I feel like any time i try to share what i am doing with someone in person or not in person they are just sitting there thinking it's a scam. does anyone else feel that way? is there a way to convey i'm really an nice honest person not scamming anyone?

This really is an awesome forum. And you all really do make me feel comfortable to ask any questions. Thanks.

I have been reading this forum since I first started researching about 10 days ago. I am very overwhelmed but this forum has been very helpful to me in trying to sort through it all.

I rarely post to any forums but today I made 2 posts here.. that for me is some sort of record.

Thanks much to everyone here for all the advise I have seen.

Hi Kerri,

Probably the best way is to just be as helpful as possible sharing the basics of what you have learned. As people are helped by you, they will naturally want to check out what it is you are doing and see if it is for them.

It usually takes time to build up a good reputation online. If you find an online opportunity that is honest and works well for you, just stick with it for the long haul and develop your business. When people see your success they will begin to ask you questions.

It's a lot easier to share what you are doing when people come to you rather than you going to them.

I get a little carried away myself at times, wanting to convince people that what I am doing works, because I genuinely want to help them. I'm sure it comes across a bit pushy or like a sales pitch and doesn't really do me any favors. I try to reign myself in when I catch myself doing that.

Hang in there and keep building your business.

Blessings,
Angie

yes that's me in a nutshell, i just want to help people... I'm so paranoid of being pushy or scammy that i think sometimes i go too far the other way and don't share what i am doing enough when the right situation does occur.

Thank you for the response. It helps... i really do believe and love what i am doing and I will keep going. I also can't wait until i can help more and more people.

Thanks for your kind words Daye - it is an honor to pass on to others what has been done for me and it was not so very long ago that happy wife was doing the very same for me. She is the bomb!

Hi Patty,

Nice to meet you. Your site is really cute in design! Well done.

I did notice that your navbar (site menu) links off to a bunch of other sites and affiliate sites, but you don't have much content of your own on the site.

It looks like you have several sites and some have been around a while. You've been quite busy. They are all lovely in design, but I'm wondering how much traffic you are getting to them (based on the rankings)?

Do you know that you can bring in a lot of free traffic to your sites by doing some keyword research and adding pages to your site about those specific phrases searchers are using to find info. related to your site topics?

You can then "presell" them and send them on to your affiliate sites or get them involved in one of your MLM opportunities or just order some of your products. You would be able to really increase your potential sales that way.

If that's something that appeals to you, there's a free Affiliate Marketing Course ebook that explains the process and also another one on the 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing (on one of my sites below) and would help you improve your business.

Once again, lovely to have you join us here. I hope you will be helped and also share your experience with us.

Blessings,
Angie

hi everybody, Well here i am the complete new person. I found this site a few days ago while trying to check out the validity of various opportunities to earn an income on the internet. Affiliate and network marketing seem to be very attractive but I have absolutely no idea where to start, which business do I join, which is honest, which one will help me from the beginning, which one will answer my questions, which one will not just take my limited funds and then disappear into cyberspace, you may consider me a computer caveman.
Of all the threads that I read on this site the original post by 'mountainmom' was what attracted me to sign up here and briefly introduce myself:
I am a 52 year old (53 next month) retail sales manager, father of 3 grown up sons, grandfather of 6, and dedicated husband. My computer knowledge is limited to checking and sending email and searching on google.
I need to learn from scratch, from the very beginning from someone who was once in the boat that I now find myself aboard, I need to know where to start, not halfway through, not to join a business just to find I am way out of my depth because i don't understand the terminology.........I feel like the caveman who has found a box of matches but dosn't know how light a fire with them.
So this post (the very first I have ever done anywhere) is in a way my ..........Cry for Help.................

I look forward to reading any comments and suggestions and offers
many regards to all
Anthony

Hi Anthony,

First let me congratulate you on tackling this crazy online world of marketing as someone "over 50." You aren't alone.

I learned through SBI (SiteBuildIt) which is a step by step website business building program. It has a private members forum, and today in my member newsletter their was reference to a particular section of the forum called "The 50-Plus-Years-Old Thread"...

It's been going for a year as those who fall into the 50+ category have been discussing their progress, etc., of learning to build an online business using SBI.

I'd love for you to read that thread as my guest in the forum. I think it would be a great encouragement and inspiration to you.

If you will send me a note by private message (just click on the envelope next to my name on the left), I will be happy to give you a link to the thread and the password to gain access. I think it will be a real help.

I was in the same boat as you as far as internet knowledge and experience was concerned. I learned just about everything I know from SBI over the last 2 years, completely from "scratch." You can too.

Blessings,
Angie

Good morning Angie,

Thankyou so much for replying to my post. It is very encouraging to know that I have found the opportunity to interact with others (especially those around my age group or older) who have been in my shoes or are at this time just starting out like me.

I found a free course yesterday called the thirty day challenge and i'm looking into that too to see what they have to say.

I have sent you a note on the Private message as you asked.

I look forward to coming here to this forum and reporting on my progress for all to read. So here I go wish me luck I fear i may need a bit of that too.....finding this sight was a real good start.

thanks again Angie
Regards Anthony

Welcome Anthony and at least you are not afraid to light the fire!

So glad to have you here and just so you know - I grew up without any electrical conveniences so I didn't have a computer either till I was well past 30... If I can do it - you can do it.

Absolutely feel free to come on here anytime with questions - it is one of the best ways to learn as you often get to hear more than one perspective on any given topic.

Your welcome Anthony. I enjoy helping others get started in the right direction. I was so lost and confused when I first started online a couple of years ago that I would have welcomed a helping hand.

It's difficult to know what program to start with or follow, since there are so many different ones to choose from. I really resorted to praying about it and then finally found something that, when I read it, it just 'clicked.' I knew it was the right thing for me. I hope that will happen for you too.

I did answer your private message, so that will give you even more reading! You are going to have your hands full for a while just reading. That's good in a way. It's best to look before you leap.

Wishing you all the best.
Angie

Good morning, mountainmom and happywife.

Thankyou both for your warm welcomes, words of advice and encouragement. Just a quick note to you both before I have to get off the computer.

It is Sunday morning here on Cape Cod at 10.30am and I've been glued to this screen since about 6am reading, (very interesting stuff..thanks for link Angie) and my wife is shouting at me to come on and get showered, shaved and dressed as we are going out for Sunday lunch.

I think 'Time Management' is the one of the first things I have to address and come to terms with, adding the time devoted to this new journey of mine to the other things in life like family, work, recreation etc. I would be interested in your perspectives on this topic...like right now for instance... I really have to go but I feel like a kid with new toy and I want to keep playing with it!!!

have a great Sunday
Anthony

Hello All,

I've always found answers to my questions without posting until today. Today I have questions about WAH, specifically about West at home. Where to I go to ask these questions>

I know the feeling. It's very addictive isn't it? You do have to be strict with yourself. It takes real effort and time when you get started, but I think it's important to keep your priorities straight.

Sadly for me, the Lord has not blessed me with children, so I have more "free" time than a mom would have. But I do have a husband and a home to look after, as well as our missionary work to do. It's always a balancing act to do what is necessary and right, not just what is most compelling.

I've come to really love working online, so I have to be careful not to let it take over my life. Learning a completely new skill like this turned out to be an exciting challenge and very refreshing.

Getting started does require a good bit of time. First you have to research and decide what you are going to do. Then you have to learn how to do it, and finally, you have to do it.

Once you have a firm foundation built for your online business, depending on what type of business you pursue, you can often ease off some.

My first site doesn't need as much time and energy anymore, so it freed me up to start other sites. If I only stuck with the one in the first place, it would need very little maintenance to keep it stable and/or growing.

I'm a glutton for punishment, though, and am juggling 4 sites. (or like I said earlier, addicted).

But you are right. Time Management is one of the most challenging obstacles you will face. It's worth it, though, to try to get that right. You want to keep the peace as much as possible.

Blessings,
Angie

To all that are still unsure about this forum......

This is the place to be! I went from knowing very little when i joined this forum...to now about a month later....starting and creating my own niches to eventually bring in some income! There are plenty of "Senior Members" and when i say senior, I don't mean old! LOL! So, if you are reading this post, you are in the right spot!
