getagrip: am a work at home Granddad, am I still qualified for this topic. As Of Last Saturday I am also a New Granddad. Mathew Thomas Marsh entered the world on the first day of spring...
At the risk of being off-topic... But I'm as puffed up as when I had my first kid.

Congratulations on your new source of joy Although I'm still a father, I think grandparents have more fun with their grandchildren than parents have with their own children. It's fun without responsibilities.

wayne111: Hello, I am trying to be a work at home granddad, what are my choices Hi Wayne,
There are a number of choices, but you'll have to do a bit of reading and research to determine which will be best for you.
If you are wanting to work online you can start your own business or do freelance work for others.
If you want to do freelance work, you can go to places like elance.com, getafreelancer.com, odesk.com, mturk.com, etc.
This is what many people do in order to earn some money to get them started so that they can invest in starting their own online business. That's where the best long term money comes from.
With freelance work you are always only going to be paid a set amount for set work. If you stop doing the work, you stop getting paid.
With starting your own business, you put a lot of work upfront, usually with very little pay. But eventually, you get continual pay for very little work.
When it comes to starting your own online business, again, there are options.
You can sell a product or service of your own, or you can promote other people's products and/or services and make a commission on the sales or leads you generate.
Some people love "network marketing" and they get involved in an MLM whose products they use and then build their business around that. (Then again, some people hate MLM ).
Other people prefer "affiliate marketing" which is promoting other people's products and services as I mentioned earlier and earning a commission. This is one of the easiest ways of getting started and takes the least amount of investment (money-wise).
Personally, I've done a bit of each of those. I started out knowing nothing and I've gradually learned a bit over the last couple of years.
The best step I took was choosing to learn and build my online business through SiteBuildIt (SBI). I started out building my first site, chocolate-candy-mall.com, using the "affiliate marketing" model.
That means I earn money from referring my visitors to various chocolate candy companies. I also earn income from the Google Adsense ads throughout the site.
Since then, I've gone on to build a couple of other sites (one of them - my parasites site - does include referring a particular range of products from an MLM company among other things).
So, as you can see, there are different monetization models you can choose from, but building your own business is going to be your best option for the long run.
I highly recommend that you think about the things you really enjoy when making a decision about working online. Consider your hobbies, your previous work experience, special interests or knowledge you might have, etc.
Believe it or not, you can usually build a decent online business around something you genuinely love and enjoy. It makes the whole process an awful lot easier when you truly enjoy what you are doing.
Hope that helps you as you consider your options. Blessings, Angie
