I joined PL december of 2007 and like almost everyone here, i got overwhelmed with lots of information to grasp. Anyhow, I was able to make my own website promoting 3 affiliate program, of course PL is no. 1. Also promoted SBI and affiliate handbook.
I don't know what's wrong, but up to now i haven't got any conversion. I made my webpage using MS Frontpage and optimized on the keyword "best paying affiliate". 2 weeks after my page was up, my page ranked no. 8 on google and watch it crawl to the top. Yes! #1. If you don't believe it, go to google and search for the keyword "best paying affiliate" and I didn't pay google to put my page that high. My site is "www.bestpayingaffiliate.com"
But as what I am saying, up to now I haven't got any conversion. Even my adsense are not making any clicks. So I need some help from all of the people out there who made it.

Hi bOsiNg,
Don't be discouraged. Your site looks really nice as far as layout is concerned. That's a good start.
How much traffic are you getting? It doesn't look like you have an Alexa ranking or pagerank yet. Did you submit your homepage to the major engines?
From what I could tell, a lot of your links were affiliate links out to other sites with not a lot of content of your own. You need to build continual content around keywords relating to your niche that are in high demand and have low supply.
Doing that will help you draw targeted traffic from the search engines. It takes time, of course, but you aren't likely to get clicks of any sort without plenty of traffic. The more traffic, the more clicks.
Hang in there.

Hi happywife,
I did submit my site using the http://freewebsubmission.com/. with regards to pagerank, I don't think I have done that. I will do it later during my spare time. Thanks for your input. I will consider looking for my own niche.

You don't do anything to get pagerank apart from build a good site. That is awarded automatically.
I looked at the freewebsubmission.com service. It looks like an interesting tool. Did you manually submit to each of the major engines and directories in the first list? The second list looks like the automatic submission they will do for you, but I'm pretty sure you have to do the first section one at a time.
I think you will get a lot further with a different niche. The affiliate marketing niche is extremely competitive. You are more likely to get discouraged and quite before getting good results with a niche like that.
All the best, Angie

bOsiNg,
You're doing a good job doing what many newbies fail to do...
That is you took action. You learned to get a website up and running along with hosting and a domain name. Quite a few would cringe about investing in a few more dollars after their initial purchase of an Internet marketing course.
Others would rather find free ways to make pennies than educate themselves in a little HTML or building web pages.
Congratulations!
Now listen to me carefully...
Here's what you need to do if you want to do...
First, your website looks good BUT it's NOT FOCUSED! Your website is ranking high for that keyword phrase because that phrase is exactly your domain name. Take note of this! In fact, even without any valuable content, you can get just about any domain ranked on the first page doing that.
To gauge conversion, you need to know how much traffic is flowing into your site. If you're not getting any traffic and you're screaming about not converting, well duh! The problem is your traffic, not conversion. You also need to know where your traffic is coming from. If you're getting junk traffic that isn't targeted, you would be lucky to get any conversion.
Speaking of traffic and conversion, this brings me back to what I wanted to say earlier. If you want traffic and conversion, your website needs focus. Ask yourself this...
"What is the primary goal of my site?"
Got that? Now this should be your only goal. Get rid of everything else that isn't related. Let's say I want my site to about making money online with affiliate marketing. If this is so, I would get rid of the following from the website:
- Budget Computer Deals - Web Hosting - Utilities (adware, spyware, everything!!!) - Other Links (everything!)
I would even get rid of...
-Free Tools
(I gotta go. Sent you a PM. Reply to me and I will help you further.)

bOsing- I think your problem might be that there isn't really anyone typing in "best paying affiliate" into google. You many have a great converting site, but you aren't getting the right amount of traffic to it! Use this tool to search for popular keyword phrases and then base your website around those keywords!

makemoneyonline,
I don't think nobody is typing the word "best paying affiliate" into google since one way of getting high ranking in google is if your site is getting some clicks. I used GoodKeywords for optimizing my keyword "best paying affiliate" and it gives a lot of returns.

Hi bOsiNg,
Congrats on getting your site up. It takes time to build good traffic. Organic conversions are largely a function of targeted traffic and good copy. Site layout, navigation, appearance, and load time are also factors.
You have to offer value, authority, and you have to generate interest to make conversions.
To better understand some of these things, place yourself in your visitors shoes.
- Are these things present? - Would you enjoy visiting the site? - Would you trust the webmaster? - Would you buy from this site? - Would you return to this site? - Would you recommend or be inclined to talk about this site?
If "no" to any of the above, make changes until you would answer "yes".
