I'm a big newbie here. I really need the advice of all of you. What should I use adsense or should I promote an affiliate program? I'm kind of leaning toward affiliate programs, but I don't know yet...Im so confused.

It is very confusing getting started. Don't worry. Take your time and read and learn. It will eventually start to click.
I personally use a combination of things. My chocolate site is a combination of Adsense and affiliate programs. I recommend various chocolate candy and candy making supplies, etc., but I also include Adsense in case visitors are just browsing. At least I'll still earn a little something if they click on an Ad as they leave.
On my newest site, I am combining Adsense, affiliates, and MLM products. Eventually, I may even add a e-book of my own for sale.
Diversity is always recommended. When you have various streams of income coming in, it's not as big a tragedy when one of them fails for some reason or another.
If you choose a niche topic and build a site around that subject you can monetize in all different ways. It's YOUR business and you can do whatever pleases you and works best for you.

If you find a good product, an affiliate program is always better if you have targeted traffic which will convert. Otherwise Adsense is OK

Thanks for the help. I want to jump in and start, but i need to keep reading 1st...lol. wow, you have a huge site! Lots of pages. How long did it take you to build it?
I noticed something...when i do a google search for affiliate programs, the affiliates have their own domain for the affiliate site.
Example: it can be a profit lance affiliate like some of us, except they have a regular domain name that leads to the site. How do i do that?
Are we able to change our click bank links into a real domain name?
Also, how much do u make a day with your adsense?

My chocolate site has about 250 pages or so (I haven't counted lately). It took me about 6 months to get the majority of it built and start getting decent free traffic. I try to add a few pages a month these days just to keep it fresh and maintain my standing. I spend most of my time working on my newer sites.
One of the ways you can promote affiliate products with your own domain name is to use subdomains and redirects. Basically, you choose a domain name (more general) and then for each affiliate you promote you can create a subdomain that redirects the traffic to the affiliate site. I don't generally do that on my main sites too much, but I do for non-related products that I promote (like SBI).
Of course, you can purchase separate domain names for each affiliate product if you want, but I don't know what the benefit of that is if you aren't planning to build a site with that domain name. Maybe someone else will enlighten us. 
We aren't really allowed to say what our Adsense is specifically, but I suppose I could say that I make between $5-$15 a day (depending on the season) from the Adsense on my chocolate site which actually is pretty poor. Much of my site is 'recipes' which don't make hardly anything in Adsense. Your adsense income will depend on your niche topic and the amount advertisers are willing to pay Google for the advertising.
