Hi all,
I have really been researching the Profit Lance program quite a bit in the last few days. I've seen nothing but good reviews, which is a good thing, however, I am still a little nervous about how the whole principal works. Am I understanding it right that the only way you make money is when an affiliate website sells something, or is it by clicks per link? Or is it both? My friend got scammed (in my opinion) when he purchased a program for creating advertisements. So I am still a little skeptical.
Any information would be great.
Thank you in advance

There are a lot of scams out there, however profit lance is not one of them. That being said, you do have to put in the time and effort if you want to make the money. You make money when an affiliate website sells something, yes, but there are other ways also, such as through google adsense. You'll learn more about this when u order the course

Why do you think you can only sell crap products as an affiliate?
Did you know approx. $90 Billion (with a "B") was spent online last year?
As affiliates it is our job to know what products people are buying online and then make sure we offer those products to the people buying them. You can be an affiliate for almost any kind of product you can think of. Information products, expensive watches, weight loss suppliments, even cars.
The point I am trying to make is that if you know what people are buying online; and they are buying to the tune of $90 Billion a year, and you put your offer in front of them, then you will make money.
Am I making money online? Yes! As a rule I do not usually make posts about the amounts of money I make online, but to satisfy your curiosity, I brought in $263.11 yesterday. Thats all from different affiliate products I market.
First you must realize that it not easy. You absolutely MUST treat it as a business. You NEED to have a business plan and goals written out. You need to track your efforts and test everything. If you can dedicate yourself to your new online business and focus on one project at a time, you will do better then most.
Hope this helps,
Michael

Profit Lance is a great course that teaches you about Internet marketing. It isn't a club where you join and you get paid.
You need to take what you learn from there and apply it to your Internet business, whether it is marketing digital products, physical products, your own products or other people's products.
You can't deny the fact that people spend money on the Internet.
The question is how are you helping these hungry buyers?
If you're referring to informational products, then YES, there are a lot of crappy products our there. But the Internet revolution is much bigger than this. If you can't see this, then you're blind.
Everyday, people shop for every physical product that you can imagine. Besides physical products and digital products, people also shop for services.
nerry: it seems like it'd be impossible to make real money online no one wants to buy the crap products from affiliate websites & i dont know of anyone except net newbies who clicks on the good ad links
To you, it "seems" impossible... To others, it has already happened...
...a matter of perception...
BTW, who says you HAVE TO set up affiliate websites and sell crappy products? Like I've said, the market is much bigger than what your perception of it is.
Think bigger!

I do appreciate the perspectives on this matter. I'm just speaking for myself. I've been active on the internet since 1997 or so, and I too have partaken in this trend of buying online. But i'd never buy from some shady site which isn't a renown retailer. The majority of shoppers go to a few sites for most everything such as Newegg for computer related goods, Amazon for entertainment media, etc. It just seems like it would be difficult to gain trust with consumers to offer a product (one you don't actually sell) at a price that is acceptable and at a website that is respectable. I know some of you mentioned you don't have to do affiliate products. But what else do you have really? Unless you're an engineer or designer of some sort, you wont be selling your own products, and there comes that issue of trusty shady websites. I think profit lance is misrepresented somewhat from the website. Showing pictures of the owner's lifestyle, so that people can sink their teeth into and daydream about making $2,000 overnight.

...you can become an affiliate for both newegg and amazon... So here's a little sample of what you do. You become an affiliate of newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Info/Affiliates.aspx)(Vishal not an affiliate link)
Then you write a few articles about a certain monitor or hard drive. Then you write two blogs about it. Then your create a press release about it. Linking the heck out of all of these.
Then you wash rinse repeart. This of course is a very loose description of what it take, but the process is more or less sound.
Just remember at some point and time even new egg was a startup company selling other people's stuff.

nerry: The majority of shoppers go to a few sites for most everything
I think what you might be missing is that not everyone goes online specifically to shop for a specific product (some do, of course, and may go directly to those sites - my husband heads straight to amazon for a lot of his books and dvd's).
But, a huge number of people go to the internet for 'information.' They have a problem or question that they need solved. They don't know what product they are looking for so they just type in a search phrase like ...
how to get rid of fleas
They aren't necessarily looking for brand XYZ. They are looking for a solution. That's where affiliate marketers come in. You write about 'how to get rid of fleas' in your articles, blogs, website, etc. (whatever type of avenue you are using), and get good ranking for that particular keyword phrase.
They read your well-written informative article about the best way to get rid of fleas on your pet and click on the referal link you have provided to the company that actually does sell brand XYZ.
They make the purchase for the product and you get the commission.
Information is the key to affiliate marketing. You have to do the research to find out the phrases that searches are typing in. Big companies like Amazon, etc., don't have pages optimized for the millions of phrases that searchers use. That is how you beat them and get the traffic routed through your links.
I hope that makes sense and helps you see the bigger picture.
Blessings, Angie

So basically, your mission is to have a blog containing an article about how to ___________, and flood it with ads and provide links to retailers that will offer you a commission.
I could see this leading up to a flood of blogs. And what are we supposed to do when we don't really know crap about the product we "reviewed"? just lie about it and say its bad ass in hopes the user will click on our link?
i dont mean to sound like the antagonist, but someone's gotta be :P

You are negative, defeatist and cynical before you even start. I dont think you will do well as you doubt it and dont belive in it. Many others have succeded and it does work. I would not pursue looking into it any longer.
As I say, please dont it this the wrong way
Cheers. Andy

lol it's understandable. If you are an affiliate of a program you're going to know about it and be able to review it.
If you're simply selling an item from say clickbank then you can approach it two ways. Write a review based off of the "ad" from clickbank. So review the obvious. If it's a product about a psp write about the functions.
Or better yet you can write a "what is it" or quick "faq" about your item. This Item is for psp's and such.
I guess the point is there are ways to get your information up there. Use the product ad page to get information to write an article on. Your article doesn't have to be a review, it can simply be an article on the product. The idea is to get a page listed in google and other search engines that will drive traffic to your (program/product)
As far as blogging goes you I would suggest setting up 3-4 per product. 1. An article blog that showcases articles you've written. 2. An item specific blog that is talks about the item. 3. A item type specific blog. 4. A personal blog talking about what you're doing online and showcase your most recent articles and blogs.

I don't think there's anythign wrong with being skeptical(especially with the way things are pushed and hyped online) to some extent I wish I was a little more skeptical when I first started...might have saved me some headaches

You should try to keep in the forefront of your mind the desire to help people find the genuine solutions they are searching for. Consider that to be your 'job.' When you do your job well, of course you will get paid for it (commissions) and so you should.
I suspect if a person has a blog like you describe 'flooded' with ads they probably aren't going to get very many clicks or 'sales.' Most people aren't as gullible as we may think. Would you purchase from that kind of site?
Anyway, look at my niche sites if you want to get an idea of how I am using affiliate marketing - many people do it this way. You don't have to be 'scamming' to make an income online.

I'm not saying that I am going to flood it with ads, just saying thats the typical case from what i've seen. I must have came off more negative than I am :P I'm interested in the entire affiliate market industry. I just have strong beliefs it has to be executed better than what it is currently

Hi nerry,
I don't blame you for feeling that way. There are a lot of folks that use black hat methods and short cuts to make money online.
The result is often an overabundant mish-mash of unethical and sloppy sites. Folks learn a few bits and pieces of online marketing, they write poorly, they don't know their topic, and they hide the fact that they haven't tried the product they are speaking so highly of.
Everyone loves the money, but who takes the time to learn most everything required to make money online? How many really care about their readership and their customers? Very few. Only a small percentage of us think long term and will do what ever it takes for how ever long it takes to understand things well before implementing a plan.
Take the time to dig through this forum and you will get a good idea of what affiliate marketing is, where to learn more, and how to go about it.
You can also make money online via several other methods.
Spend two or three days reading threads within this forum to find out how.
Best of luck.

drepope100: im finally ready to get started and need to know the basics. any help is welcome and appreciated That's a pretty vague request. Can you be more specific as to where you are stuck?
'Affiliate marketing' covers a lot of territory. Which aspect do you plan to try first? Free ads, article marketing, blogging, web site development...?
I, for one, am not a pro though I do appreciate the compliment. I do know a bit about affiliate marketing through building niche websites. If that is the angle you are shooting for I can help point you in the right direction.
I'll send you a private message with some additional information to get you started. If that isn't what you are looking for, you'll have to ask more specific questions.
All the best, Angie
