Anyone tried 'drop shipping'?
Is it it easy to set up, particularly for those with little web design knowledge?
And is it a particularly profitable area?
Thanks

I tried dropshipping with Ebay once and it was a tough competition but if you want to do it with your own website, it may be easier.
It was a good way to get neg feedback on Ebay as I couldn't control the shipping time , etc...
What you do want to watch out for with drop shipping is that YOU are the one that will get the complaints if they don't get it on time or if the never get their products, etc...
If you are just an affiliate, the profit is not that much different and you don't have to handle all that... make sense?

Well, what I had done was find dropshipping companies for what I wanted to market - and at that time I was looking for brand name stuff, like Leatherman, Gerber , Maglite, etc... then all you basically have to do is set up an account with them (and it's free to do that) to market their products so that you have a wholesale account... then you can use the company pics and details to set yp your ads on Ebay (or wherever) ....
Then when you get paid you log into your company site - like if someone bought a maglite from me, I would then go log in and place the order with the company I was working with, just as if it was my order and have the maglite sent to my Ebay customer - whatever money was left over after paying the wholeslae cost was my profit so you can set your own price on your websites or Ebay...
I kinda stink at explaining stuff at times but in a nutshell that is how I did it...

you actually make a lot of sense! Thanks.
Theoretically it sounds simple although i can see how precarious it could be if delivery took a long time. it could ruin your ebay cred!
thanks for the info mountain, ill look a bit more into it
do you make much profit then?

There is very little profit margin in drop shipping. In fact there is very little profit in wholesaling on eBay at all.
My vote is stress to profit ratio it is not worth it =].
However in volume low profit margins add up ..
Good luck in your endeavors!

No, I did not make much profit with that. However I do dropshipping on Ebay for a local furniture shop now and that pays quite well but those deals are few and far between!
I just went and asked them if they would dropship for me if I marketed their stuff and they said 'sure'.... if you have something like that happen for you, then it is okay but most of the online dropshipping companies are very low profit margin - remember, if you can find them online (as far as dropshipping companies) so can a gajillion others...
