Are capture pages really that important? Right now I have A domain that forwards to my site but I am thinking about getting a capture page. Are they really that important?
Also, what do you guys think about buying e-mail leads for a noob?
Right now I have just started writing articles and posting in forums. I am going to do press releases as well free classifieds. Will that be enough to bring in leads?

Do you mean a squeeze page to simply collect the e-mail address... I don't rate them, I think have a pop up e-mail opt-in would be better.
Don't buy e-mails... You're e-mail should be targeted to your site / product and if you buy e-mails they won't have been from an opt-in

If your goal is to capture them I would say that it's a necessary thing or as long as there's an optin you should be okay. At least you're taking action and that's half the battle right there. Sonni

Hi daellis99 and KDMiller55
Capture pages are great especially if you are building a contact list. This also helps if you have an auto-responder that will email out campaigns to your prospects every few day about your product/service.
You want an eye catching and rich in content of enticing information so they will fill out the forum for more info on your product/service. These forms are great to capture the name, email, address, city, state, phone# and the best time to call. You can even add a questionnaire to this capture page. Example: Where did you heard about us. Or how much weight do you want to loose? If you selling a weight loss product.
There is an old saying in this business, "The money is in the list". Before you start taking out that credit card. You can practice with a capture page and create one for free here. http://freecapturepages.com
I hope this helps.
Much Success Susan

from my experience, i dont think that will be better. See, those things annoy me to no end, and i always close them.
capture page is always a good idea to brief the visitor about what he is getting into. If your capture page is collecting emails, some people (me) will be turned off. So if you really want people to see what you have in your website, dont collect emails, unless you really know how to work it.
