Although it may not seem obvious at first, people are actually unhappy because they want or choose to be.
You live in a belief-driven universe. What you believe is what you get. But if that's so, how do you change your beliefs so you change your results?
Whenever you don't get what you want, there is an accompanying emotion. Call it anger, frustration, grief, depression, sadness, rage, or anything else; they care all variations of the word Unhappiness.
You can improve anything in your life, from your relationships to your finances, when you discover the hidden beliefs that hold you back. Once you know what they are, you can question them to see if they are still true for you in the clear light of the day.
Instead of struggling in frustration to change circumstances and situations, you can change the beliefs that keep you stuck.
Make today a new better day for you and create your better world.
To your massive success, Michelle

Really depends on the situation - if a women loses her husband, and she grieves, should you go up to her and say "you are chosing to be sad"? I don't think so...but there are situations where you just kind of have to get over it and move on. There are also people who seem to be perpetually "grumpy" that are mean to everyone, and have a negative attitude about everything - it sure would be nice if those people changed!

When one is sadden by a situation with their husband or wife, that is something that they don't control. But, in time that sadness leaves if that person chooses to have it gone. Yes, there are people out there who'll never be happy and therefore they create their own doom. Thanks for your reply.
To your massive success, Michelle

Nice post!
The key is to chose to live always IN THE NOW. This may seem obvious, but we tend to spend our days thinking about our past, or worried about our future. We also tend to project negative emotions most of our life time, so what we end attracting is not what we'd like to have. I studied Dr. Robert Anthony's work, and that helped me a lot about this issues.
Happy Hollidays!
Carlos
