I know that many of you don't qualify for many surveys, but why say bad things about them?
As you can see there are many people that do quite well with paid surveys. I am one of them.
Some people like MLM programs but it's not for me. And you don't see me saying what a bad idea it is..
I'm just saying that if it's not for you then you shouldn't even be in the survey section.

This is a forum where people are allowed to express their opinions. Myself and countless others have wasted our time with paid surveys, and therefore have the right to express our opinions about them.

Yes, there are many people which do make an nice suplemental income from paid surveys, its good to see someone take a stand for it.
getagrip: This is a forum where people are allowed to express their opinions .
I 100% agree that people have the right to express themselves but just because it is not working out for you it does not mean that it won't work for others.
Please that say "oh surveys are worthless" don't know what they are talking about and still have the right to say that, even thought they are wrong. On the other hand if people share their experience which could have been negative then please do tell. People have the right to know if it is something worth to pursue or not.

I've spent a lot of time researching paid surveys - probably more than anyone else on this forum. If I thought they were worth persuing, I'd promote paid surveys affiliate programs on my website, which I did at one time - trust me when I say that I could make a lot of money doing this. After doing extensive research, I came to the conclusion that I would be doing my readers a dis-service by recommending paid surveys companies, so I no longer promote them.

getagrip, somehow I doubt you have spent more time researching them than anyone on this forum. This is another blankey statement. I have now done surveys for 6 years and made money every month I have done it. I have been with, truly, countless, sites and have whittled my active list down to the ones who have paid me.
You are welcome to express your opinions, but again, I think it's only fair to be clear that they are your opinions and your experiences. You really can't speak beyond that. Just like I can't, nor won't, tell people that surveys will work for them. But I can say, they work well for me...and who knows, they might work for you too.

Happygal, if these were only my "opinions", then your statements would be valid, but the fact of the matter is that these are the opinions that countless others accross the internet have voiced, including many other members from this forum.
In my early days of internet marketing, I promoted paid surveys, but after doing extensive research and going out of my way to prove they were legitimate, I found that many people, like me, felt they were a waste of time, so I stopped promoting them. And you DON'T have any idea what you are talking about when you say that my statement is "blankety", because you don't know how much time I spent researching this, and you don't know the extent of my research.
If they work for you, then great, I'm happy for you. But your experiences are different than what many other people have experienced. When you say, "who knows, they might work for you too", you are dead wrong, because my experiences tell me otherwise, and there are a lot of people out there that feel the same way as me.

Hey guys,
This is a bit of a lively one :P
It's good to have healthy debates over ways in which people can make money - that's what this forum is for.
But as long as the comments are constructive - where people explain exactly why they feel the way they do about a method.
And I wouldn't worry about people that just say "it's rubbish" as anyone who is serious about adopting a money making method will want to know why a method is not worth adopting.
I can see why some people are very happy with paid surveys while others would rather spend their time doing something else.
It all comes down to what the person in question wants to do - how much they want to make and how long they want to spend making it.
Personally, from research and experience, I think surveys will only ever generate a bit of spending money as opposed to earn you a wage you can live off.
As long as this is clear to the user, there's no harm in promoting paid surveys. There will be people that having nothing better to do and are happy enough to spend some downtime earning a little cash.
On the other hand, I'm not sure about those products that you have to actually purchase, which 'show you how' to make a lot of money from surveys. I haven't tried one, but it is free to join these paid survey sites anyway. And how long does it take to earn your money back with one of those products?
Anyway, hopefully this long post will cool things down a bit!

Well I don't know about the whole paying for things to do surveys and I'm sorry if I crawled under someones skin by starting this thread. I have never paid out any money. I just keep letting the checks come in. Most of them are small but they sure add up.
Opinions are like a*******. Well you know the saying. Everyones got one.
There are companies out there that do want your opinion and I and many others on this forum can say that they will pay you for it.
Some people don't qualify for many surveys, but many do.
I just don't think that it's right to say that they are a waste of time when there are many people that are doing good with them.
So go ahead and bash bash bash away at the surveys and I'll keep on cash cash cashing my checks.
If you put in the time and effort you would have made it.

I agree with this completely. Just because it don't work for you dosn't mean that it won't work for the next person. Please don't discourage. Let everyone go out and try it for themselves. After all that is the only way you'll find out if it works for you

How many times do I have to say this? My research included not just my own experiences, but the experiences of others. Thousands upon thousands of people have tried to make money with paid surveys, and lots of these people have found paid surveys to be a waste of time. Its really a recurring theme that comes up over and over again on the internet...

I myself has wasted many hours on paid surveys and did not make a cent. The one site conveniently "lost" my details before they had to pay out.

And thousands and thousands have had succsess.
They don't work for every person, but then no job does. And I agree that there are better ways to make money online, but then that's not going to work for everyone either now is it ?

Haha - and 3 out of 100 people have success with mlm. So goes the get-rich-easy-with-no-effort schemes. Chance of success is small. At least with paid surveys you don't have to dupe others to join!! It's one of the most legit wastes of money (time IS money) you can try. Give it a shot! And then, go to college, get a degree, and a real job!

That is funny, BHP, because you see I do have a college degree from one of the top 10 schools in the country. I am married to a doctor and I do work full time outside of the home. And therein, I believe, lies a big part of the reason I am successful with surveys. I do them for fun and for extra money. I have never suggested to anyone that they will make a living with surveys. If someone tells you you can, they are not being honest.

wow happygal - economy must be bad - I would suggest something like painting or biking for fun - just teasing! Your post is well said - a lot of people think that it will be a steady source of income, and put hopes and dreams into it - the same as mlm. Your way is best - do it for fun, and if money comes, great!
However, most people in this economy are trying to find the extra money, not the extra fun, in a paid survey. I would suggest that for extra money, a paid survery is nothing to bank on.
Not all people have the leisure time to spend a couple of hours a day on surveys as well. For ME, that's not good quality fun, but whatever floats your boat. Wish I had a degree from a top 10 college! I'm working on my third degree (Masters in Biology/Immunology), but not from a particularly prestigous school
When I advocate getting a degree, it is to those who are forever scouring the internet for a work from home job that will make them instant wealth. With the bad economy, the best advice I can give ANYONE is to go get a degree in something useful (engineering, sciences, etc...) A useful degree is key. I know a fellow who has a degree in international business, and is going back to school for pharmacy. I should start a "degrees to avoid" thread - but I fear I'm off topic

All well taken. However, I only spend 30 minutes a day most days doing surveys...usually over a lunch hour. Trust me, with three little kids and two working parents, free time is limited around here.

OK...lets see here...you spend approx 30 minutes per day and dont normally do them on weekends so we'll give you 3 hours per week or lets just say 15 hours per month max. You claim to make over $ 600 a month which would equate to $ 40 per hour if you do the math...15 x 40 = 600...This is a staggering amount for the vast vast majority of survey takers who struggle to accumulate 50 per month. I would love to see you or anyone else in action that claims to make this amount and as funny as it sounds..i actually believe it somehow even though im highly skeptical...imma sure its an advantage with your demographics. Personally...ive been taking them for a couple of years and have done my fair share of research including reading many of the boards and would have to agree that well over 90% of takers make anywhere from $ 10 - $100 a month

From reading this post it appears there is one person in favor of paid surveys and one person that is against. I am new to this so what are the pros and cons of paid surveys. Your opinion is much appreciated. Thanks

The pros and cons are really the same. There are no guarantees.
Some (and not all, for sure) will make some with surveys. And some won't. it's all based on demographics (who you are) and who you are with.
