I have heard some good things about this. Some controversy. I'd be curious what forum members know for certain.
Apparently, you can get lots of $2 payments (minus payprocessor fees), for a one time $12 payment.
It uses Alert Pay, Solid Trust Pay, and Safe Pay, which add about a $2 fee also.
So although the site advertises a $12 payment, you'll have to pay about $14.
They send your ad out over a list of TE's listed on the website. People claim great results. But, you get $2 payments in addition.
Lots of them apparently!
It's still new so, I'd love to see what the WAH sleuths can discover.
Anyone?

Sorry folx. The idea is you build a downline which you can email ads to. A safe, opt-in list.
You get $2 payments as you build your list.

That sounds an awful lot like a chain letter. Those are not legal. Perhaps I am not reading you correctly, but that's what it sounds like.

Hey there PMHayes, I sent you this post by PM since it cotains a few links.
I'm sorry that it's so long folx, but I think it covers an important point PMHayes brought up. And I am sure other WAH members will be making the same observation.
Just remember, the main thing here is you are NOT using the US Postal Service, and you WILL make money! (so they say!). Anyway, the veracity of these two conditions is what makes it legal, and not the violation on members of society that a true chain letter is.
MY POST: I am aware of how this looks like a chain letter. But actually, you are building a downline, and people are paying you to do so. Of course you will have to pay in!
You could say it's a computer chain/web/network and downline builder if you want to. (Much like how GDI is a matrix and a webhost.) But the main idea here is you are building a downline, and getting paid to do so!
And people are getting paid from what I hear, so it's not the rip-off that chain letters are, which is the US Postal Service's main concern.
I agree with the website owner though, that this is not a chain letter. What letter is there?
The following passage, is an excerpt of a reply from the MAMMOTH LIST website owner, to a blogger that felt this was a chain letter. It can be found in it's entirety at: http://blondesmakemoney.blogspot.com/2008/05/yesterday-and-mammoth-list.html
I'm Clay Montgomery. I'm the one who created Mammoth List. Do a Whois on the domain and you will see all my contact information. I don't hide anything.
You were right in part of your statement. This cannot be a chain letter. There is no letter. We don't use the mail at all. Chain letters have no real product or service. ML has a great service. It builds people's lists extremely fast. It also happens to have a nice side effect called money.
Even if this were a chain letter, which again, it is not, chain letters are not illegal. There are no federal or state laws against it. There is a federal policy against them when the US Postal Service is used but that's a policy, not a law. You cannot be fined or put in jail because it's just a policy. The US Gov't considers them a waste of human resources. That's all.______________________________________________
So once again WAH members, the illegality of the chain letter is when you use the USPS. Specifically to send something of value (money). You will then be in violation of postal code. Even if it's a website, or 'by computer', it's still not illegal until you send money in the mail.
And as this next excerpt from the US Postal Inspection website says, the main thing about 'chain letters' is that they are a bad investment. Well, this is DEFINITELY not a bad investment!
People are getting paid doing this. And since it has nothing to do with the USPS, it is NOT illegal, whether you call it a chain letter or not.
But don't take my word for it. Google-check it out for yourself!
I would like to refer you to this website of the US Postal Inspection Service: http://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/fraud/chainlet.htm
Here is an excerpt from that page:
There's at least one problem with chain letters. They're illegal if they request money or other items of value and promise a substantial return to the participants. Chain letters are a form of gambling, and sending them through the mail (or delivering them in person or by computer, but mailing money to participate) violates Title 18, United States Code, Section 1302, the Postal Lottery Statute. (Chain letters that ask for items of minor value, like picture postcards or recipes, may be mailed, since such items are not things of value within the meaning of the law.)
Recently, high-tech chain letters have begun surfacing. They may be disseminated over the Internet, or may require the copying and mailing of computer disks rather than paper. Regardless of what technology is used to advance the scheme, if the mail is used at any step along the way, it is still illegal.
The main thing to remember is that a chain letter is simply a bad investment. You certainly won't get rich. You will receive little or no money. The few dollars you may get will probably not be as much as you spend making and mailing copies of the chain letter.___________________________________
Remember folx, this plan has NOTHING to do with the US Postal Service, no matter what you call it.

What you are experiencing is a common situation on many websites. There is nothing wrong with your referral setup. It has to do with the situation you clicked your website link under.
You also don't get paid in the same 'referral' type of way as with other sites, but you will definitely get paid for ALL of your signups.
Promote this site Tony. You will get paid DIRECTLY and IMMEDIATELY from those who sign up under you.
I haven't done any promoting yet, but I know that's how it works.
There's no way you won't get paid DIRECTLY if someone signs up under you. You will also get residual payments as your members promote this.
Please read through the pages on the site and do some 'google investigating'. Also, be fair and learn if and how this offer works, before you start using the 'C' word!
They address these issues specifically in the FAQ:
Q: I just got my Mammoth List affiliate link but when I go to my link I see my sponsor's name on the sign up page. Why is my name not there? A: The site uses Sessions, not Cookies. You see your sponsor's name there because your original session is still alive. The site remembers the first link you went to. To break the current session, close all browser windows and open a fresh one. Then go directly to your referral link and you will see your name there. It is setup this way to prevent you from losing referrals. Anyone who clicks on your link first will see your name there
Q: Is this system cheat-proof? A: Yes it is. We have gone through extensive testing repeatedly to make sure nobody can get into the system without paying the 5 people on their list. It is impossible for anyone to get into the real members area or get their own affiliate link without paying those 5 people to activate their account. Even if someone gets lucky guessing what their affiliate link might be, it won't matter because the link is not live if your account is not active. It's only $10 one time. There is no reason to try and cheat people out of 2 bucks when your earnings potential is so high.

Well Tony, I just got a payment from someone who joined at 00:47 this morning. No promoting at all done by me, other than this forum and THE WARRIOR FORUM - a very good forum, though not as good as THIS one!
I don't know where this payment came from since I haven't gotten many forum replies yet. But since there are 4 other people's names on the list I am also on, I imagine this is the natural result of 5 people promoting the same site.
Of course, not much promoting has been done by me!
Well, I guess I have to learn more about this site, but it looks good to me so far. I only joined on Saturday. Just over 26 hours later, with little to NO promoting by me, I get a payment!
Can't complain.

Yes, that was my experience.
I am currently concentrating on posting in different forums, to get the word out that ML is NOT illegal.
Admittedly, it LOOKS like a chain letter. But it's not, as my loooong winded post explains.
I just want everyone to be able to find the legit info. on ML, before I start doing a lot of promoting.
Good ML luck 2u!

I am at 6 members so far, without doing ANY promoting other than talking about ML here, and at a few other forums.
I am overhauling my network marketing right now and not promoting anything actively.
Can't wait to see what an actual ad campaign would accomplish!

Hey TJ - 6 sign ups in a few weeks with little effort? not bad! I see you have an RFS link there - totally different audience there - high price point verses low low one! Good to have a diverse portfolio!

Thanks TJ - yeah - i'm using a multi-pronged approach to market - figured it's a good way to get my feet wet using synergy with my marketing
Funny - I'd love 6 sign ups in my RFS - but that's a different breed - people aren't going to plunk down 3 Gs without some serious thought.

Hey TJ I just signed on with this program today, found it surfing. You and I have bumped into eachother on this forum before, I'm surprised you didn't mention this program on another thread?? You lost me as a referral bud...... bummer.
Anyway, I like the premise of this op, it has a very sound idea, in a "pay it forward" type of system, while utilizing a downline builder.
I'm somewhat confused with one of their promotional sites and how it is affiliated with monsterlist, "Leadsleap" claims to also be a downline builder. I'm going to have to do some more research on this before compiling a reasonable opinion.
I think I will convince my HUGE list of 125 folks to jump on this bandwagon ASAP!

Not to quibble but I believe 'downline builder' is the wrong term, which I too used to describe ML.
A downline builder, as I understand it, has you sign into various programs under your sponsor, which will automatically, as people go through the steps, have people sign in under YOU as their sponsor in these same offers.
This chain of sponsor/referral relationships continues as each person becomes a member of the downline building program.
Mammoth List builds an OPT-IN/Referral List, NOT a downline, of people who have agreed to be on your opt-in list. You can download the list of email addresses and send email promos to them but it would probably be a better idea to use a double opt-in plan for extended email promotion. This would seem to be the polite thing to do if nothing else.
BUT, those people on your MAMMOTH LIST, have indeed agreed to receive emails, as it states in the 'agreed to' terms of service.

Let us know noles32.
I finally got around to posting ONE free classified ad for ML. I don't think this ad had anything to do with this because the ad gets buried pretty soon. I TRIED to upgrade the ad but that too is another unsuccessful story. But somehow, my ML jumped up to 16 members - 8 direct and 8 second level referrals. In one day no less!
As I overhaul my network marketing, I look forward to the possibilities!

This looks a great business but I am surprised that they want so much proof of identity. I have to send a scanned copy of Identity and address. PayPal does not ask for any of this. Is this what you guys have had to do? Is it because I am from overseas?

That's something David. I don't remember going through any of that, and I am SURE I would have remembered scanning any I.D.
Are you talking about the requirements for ALERT PAY or is this actually something MAMMOTH LIST is asking you to do?
I certainly can't tell you what the problem is, but I bet you'll get an answer if you ask the site admin.
Have you tried that?

Hi, Just following on from my previous post, there is so much concern about identity theft. AlertPay require a copy of my drivers licence or passport. The information that AlertPay requires includes my birthdate. This makes it easy for anyone who gets hold of my info. Are AlertPay a well established company? I had never heard of them before.

Alert Pay has been around.
PAYPAL is not without issues as well.
People have had problems with both of them to tell you the truth.
Just do a google search.
I use PAYPAL as well as Alert Pay and haven't had any problems myself.
EXCEPT!!! Paypal shut down my account and a LOT of other forum members accounts over a couple of sites we were promoting. You can find out about it if you do a search on this forum.
They have shut down MANY accounts worldwide and people never were satisfied. Losing large sums, charge backs, etc.
They re-opened my account, after I removed their pay button from the site they didn't like. MAINLY, I didn't like how that was done, without warning, and for a site that really didn't violate their terms of use. But they re-opened my account, and I haven't had a problem with them since.
I think you just have to be careful if PAYPAL is being used on a site you are promoting. They WILL zap your account if need be!! No warning either!
The best pay processor IMHO is TRME, but folx don't know it yet!
But I digress... get with ML, it almost promotes itself!

Hi TJamMoneyMan, Thanks for your replies. I have one other question. Do I need to open up an account with SolidTrustPay and SafePay for the benefit of any of my prospects who prefer to use them? I have submitted a support ticket to ML but I thought a reply from someone succeeding with ML might help.

How about a reply from someone BARELY succeeding with ML!
A little at a time anyway, I'm at 19 members!
I would imagine you would absolutely need to have the same account to do biz with someone else wanting to use that account.
I had a problem with SolidTrustPay - I can't get on their site or something. One headache after another.
Axually, I have to take a look at both of these accounts, now that you mention this...

Hi TJamMoneyMan, I have just read from ML that they hold the money from my sign ups in their account and then pay me into Alertpay when I request it. Have you received money from ML OK?
(Thanks for your answers)

wwweeeellllll,,, no...
I never asked yet!
catch is, the processing fee.
ACTUALLY, I'm glad you asked because, this answers your question about which pay-processor to use.
You can make a withdrawal at $10 or more.
This will cost you $4 with Alert Pay or Solid Trust Pay. Safe Pay costs $2 per withdrawal.
Since withdrawal at $10 nets you only $6 or $8, you wanna wait until you get a bunch o' dough before you break open the piggy bank!
On the other hand, if you don't trust them, or just can't wait(!!), go for a lower withdrawal.
Anyway, this tells you that it doesn't matter what type of pay-processor your referral uses, as far as concerns your getting paid. ML, pays YOU through the pay processor of your choice (their list).
