Hello Everyone;
I would like to take this opportunity to write this post and give everyone the heads-up regarding the "Better Rentals" scam. I was recently a victim to this and would like to share it with you. I had a person by the name of Kevin Williams contact me via email regarding a positon for a "Real Estate Assistant". He found my resume on careerbuilder and sent me this job opportunity. The pitch was this; it is very costly for them to receive payments from customer in the US and so they needed representation from people here in the states to process "rental payments" for them. The company was based out of Germany. I though okay, that makes sense. NOT!
They offered $2,000 per month and 10% of all rents collected. It all sounded very good. He even provided a website to check them out. better-rentals.net. Shortly thereafter, he sent me an agreement to sign and fax/email back to him. A couple of days later I started to receive rental payments. Better yet I received 1 rental payment and the other was being held by paypal. Oh I forgot to mention, yes one of the requirements was that you had to have a paypal account. Anyways, the second payment was being held by paypal. After much deliberation regarding this payment, paypal concluded that the monies were transferred without the buyers authorization.
To make a long story short, the monies were unauthorized and sent back to the buyers. I emailed Kevin Williams several times without any response. In fact, I haven't heard from him since and it's been about 3 months. Of course I kept all correspondence regarding this situation and evidently this type of occurence isn't anything new to paypal. Anyways, I shortly received another email from a Kevin Williams (gmail account) on another opportunity. I deleted it.

You have to be really careful with anything that involves "distance". Scam artists seem to be very effective when they can get you to do something from a different country.

I just received an e-mail from the same fella (Kevin Williams) and I was interested at first, then I googled the company to see if it was a scam and it brought me to the WAHM website. I've been coming to this website for about a month or so and I love it! I wish the people that send those scams out could all be slapped up a bit! They ruin lives! Hopefully more people will find this website and benefit from it!

I got the same email, but the persons name is Paul Williams. I just got is on Aug 5. I got another email today and he said I had to send an email back stating I was ready. I usually do the secret shopper thing, and I thought this was linked to them. I don't know why, I should have been more careful. Anyways I sent an email stating I was ready, then after that I goggled Better Rentals. Everything that came up did not match the email. So then I goggled Better Rentals GmbH and that got me to this web site. I then quickly emailed him back and told him that I had an emergency and had to leave town. I also asked to be removed from their email listing, and that I would not be able to help them. I am feeling a little scared, that I could have gotten myself into trouble, just trying to make a few extra bucks. My good name is never for sale. I am a hard working mother of three. I am always looking for side jobs, but only legal ones.

Hello. Ok, so I got this same email from a guy named Paul Williams. I responded to the email that I was interested and he wrote asking me to verify my address, which I did. I did not hear back from him, but today I received a money order in the mail from someone and I have no idea what to do with it. I should have googled Better Rentals before, but did not think about it. What should I do with this money order. I have a family and do not want to get caught up in this scam...
Please help
