I hate to bad-mouth anybody but I want to briefly relate my experience with of couple of programs I've tried and had bad luck with I'm sure I would have done better If I had promoted harder but I did give these programs at least 40 hours of my time each - two full work-weeks so here goes...
1. Rocket Profit - affiliate program that has multiple offers sort of like Clickbank. They have a lot of offers that are free or cheap for people to sign-up for, i.e. ringtones, college tuition searches, sweepstakes etc. I promoted about 10 of their offers, with ads and articles and article submission services, got lots of targeted hits to the salespages - got two sales totaling about 8 dollars - which disappeared because the offers were canceled. 2 thirds of the offers I spent time writing articles and ads for canceled in the next week or so - -tough luck I guess
2. Allsat - company that sells sign-ups for Dish Network satellight TV. I wrote USFree ads built a webpage did PPC and got over 500 TARGETED hit to their website, (not hits to my ad, but clickthroughs to their sales pages) results: 0, goose egg, nada. I wrote them asking what their conversion rate was for targeted hits. I got an email that did everything but answer my question. I sent another email asking again and got a response saying hard to tell but probably a 20 to 30 % conversion rate!! Well, if that's the case why did I get zero sales from over 500 clicks to THEIR sales page? Based on what they said I should have made at least .20 X 500 = 100 sales. Of couse the guy from Allsat that answered question had to be wrong - a 20 to 30 % conversion rate is fantastic - if ANYBODY has a program that gets that kind of conversions please PM me!!. I have made money on other affilate programs and I double-checked my Allsat stuff - everything seems ok.
Ok, I bet there are people getting rich from Rocket Profit and Allsat, (probably through PPC), but not me, I admit I an somewhat new to IM but not so new that I can't or haven't made money, sometimes 100's of dollars, through other programs - Clickbank, Amazon, PayDot.com etc.
If you have had positive experiences with either of these programs please feel free to post and prove me wrong! I just wanted to relate my experiences with these programs and vent a little. I feel better now - thanks.

Let me add to this list of vendor I would stay away from...
leatherup.com - I lost a lot of money with them. They had problems with their tracking software. I emailed them several times in which they promised it would be fixed. I even ask if I've made any sales since I was getting no statistics at all from their tracking software. They told me that I've made a few. I sent hundreds, if not thousands of clicks to their site.
As a result, I finally discontinued to promote them. I never got paid and after years, they never updated their affiliate software.
Lessons learned..
- be cautious of in-house affiliate programs - if something isn't right, stop promoting the merchant - don't continue to promote anything that doesn't make you profits

Hi, Thanx for sharing your experiences. Not everyone is so honest about their online UN-successes.
I always ask promoters how much TIME and MONEY their plan will cost ME. And what kind of payout and PROFIT I can expect, in how many weeks or months.
They almost always avoid those answers somehow. It's the only way to verify if a program is worth it though.
Still, If you don't have that info or not enough of it, you have to watch out for yourself. Very quickly, after so many hours and dollars, you can see that you will probably NEVER become profitable, unless there is a VERY big ROI to be had.
Like Blackjack etal, you have to set a limit that you won't go beyond, as far as time and/or money invested.
Often you can see such things coming.
I just wonder how it gets to be 'LOTS' of money, or thousands of bux, and nobody seems to see the obvious.
I know it's different when you are in the driver's seat sometimes so, thanx again 4 your sharing. And, good luck in the future!
(I try to go with cheap programs so one can only lose so much - it's ROI after all that really counts! Maybe when I make some decent online OR offline dough I'll consider those higher ticket ideas...)

I know most of us have had un-success with different opportunities on the internet but I am a firm believer that 'what goes around, comes around'.. so even tho I have spouted my frustrations at times, I am trying to focus on the positive aspects of it all...
I mean, we learned a lot and some of us learn best thru experience so... we didn't fail, we just learned thru trial and error about some things that didn't work for us...just had to pop in here and share that.

I have quite a few bad experiences with different online/offline business opportunities. They all had the same things in common, *no support (at least not the kind that actually shows you how to promote the business), *never can talk to the owner, *pay alot of your money out but never see any money coming in.
I agree with what was said earlier about learning from our experiences and the hard knocks that life brings us. I also believe we are never too old to learn. Thanks for letting me know about your bad luck with those companies. Best of luck with your next venture.

I agree, most of the 'bad' ones do have those things in common.
There are some 'good' opp.s out there though.
OBA for one, has their own forum: * You can ask any questions you like, and you get prompt comprehensive answers - by experienced OBA'ers, as well as the site owner. * It is DEFINITELY set up to show you 'how to promote the business'. * It only costs $5 to get this complete business opp. with your own turnkey website already setup - completely!
Not promoting, just replying...

Looks like I'm not the only one that's had some bad luck with certain programs. Sometimes you have to take account and ask yourself; what's not working? then drop what's not working so you have more time to focus on what does.
Thanks for the feedback - now to focus on what does work!

Hello Marktech, The business opportunity that l have been blessed to have found is somewhat similiar to cash crate but you only have to do the offers once and then you refer people to sign up under you and you get paid over and over again. It is working really good. Take care and have a good weekend and good luck with cashcrate.

Sometimes it seems like there are more programs that are a scam than there are programs that are not a scam.
Thanks for the advice on picking a good program.

Thier are alot of scams online/offline, so be very careful what you choose and make sure you research the opportunity especially if their is money involved.. Why are we looking for an online/home based business? To make money----not to keep giving it away. I finally got fed up with giving all of my money away and had totally lost my hope and trust in ever finding a honest and able to make some good money from home business opportunity, until this last one l got involved with and the only reason l decided to try it because of the no out of pocket cost involved and knowing someone who was actually making money with this opportunity. Otherwise l would have never trusted any kind of business opportunity again. anyways sorry for going on and on. But when you actually find something that works for you and is able 100% to work for any regular person then you want to give the opportunity to as many people as you can before they lose all their trust/hope in ever finding a real online/homebased business. Take care and hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

I also believe that different programs work for different people because some of the ones that did NOT work for me - seem to be working fine for others...

Yes, so much has to do with the TYPE of work involved. I don't do telephone sales/recruiting/promo or ANYTHING with telephone work involved, for example.
Then, there's the COST - no matter how good the plan, if you can't afford it, it's not going to work for you.
Then, the TIME factor has to work for you - amount and scheduling. The whole idea for me with online biz, is being able to work WHEN you want. Plus, I don't want to be spending 3 hours a day surfing for hits and credits that can be PAID for - time IS money after all. The trade-off has to be worth it.
I try to get promoters to answer these questions BEFORE I go through their boring sales presentation.
Most avoid answering. Those who are hiding something.

The first thing we have to do is realize that the promises the program (X) makes are never going to come true for anyone who just joins and hopes. Having 'hoped' a lot in the past I have a lot of joining fees for this and that under my belt. One secret to learn is to narrow down the things you are in that are robbing your time, money and efforts. The laser approach would be to have just one and concentrate on that. That concentration will of course kick in the law of attraction as in: "Whatever you are concentrating on will produce some result in you" That result could be finding your way to this forum or Twitter or etc. Jame$
