Most people know that I'm not a big fan of MLMs - and if you want to know why, check out my thread here about Girls, MLMs, and Toilet Paper That Cures Cancer:

http://www.work-at-home-forum.com/5_2944_0.html

Please don't take this the wrong way - I don't think that ALL MLMs are scams, but I don't think they should cost anything to join, since that is where a large percentage of their profits come from.

Having said that, even though I have no intention of joining an MLM, I think that it would be great to list some MLMs that are free to join.

The one MLM I do know that is free to join is called Cognigen - and you can join them at http://Cognigen.com (please note that this is not an affiliate link). If you would like to jon, just click on the "Business Opportunity" link at the top of the page.

If you know of any others that are free to join, that do not ask for any other fees AFTER you join, please list them here (unless, of course, they have small fees for things like marketing materials, product costs, etc - these kinds of costs are understandable). That way, people who are looking for a business opportunity with no start up costs will have some options.

If you are promoting an MLM that is not free, please do not list it here...but feel free to start a new thread entitled "MLMs That Cost Money To Join".

Getagrip,

No offense but I took a close look at Cognigen and it is lame. I'm not sure why you chose to mention that biz. You usually offer some great stuff.

So, would a business that is free to join, but charges for the product (which is a website and hosting) after you try the product out for 7 days, count as free?

I think it is a good company, with good products, and its free to join. They specialize in telecommunications products, but they also have web hosting, domain registration, satellite TV, home alarms, and a computer mall. Everything on this list is in high demand...I'm not sure what is so "lame" about that.

Techincally speaking, you can probably do better with affiliate programs for many of these services in terms of payout and product name recognition, but I think Cognigen has a lot to offer - including free training via teleconferences, so I wouldn't call the company "lame" at al, especially for newbies looking to get involved in something that doesn't cost money to join.

Hmmm...that's a tough one. I know that Cognigen doesn't charge for a website, and I don't think My Power Mall does either, so I don't think I'd count that as free.

It's probably worth looking into as a free biz and commission op.

I looked into the brands of the services and they are a bit off the beaten path. It looks like a new group of no-name companies trying to break into the telcom and broadband market for the most part.

Would probably be hard to sell.

Not sure what you mean by "computer mall". I didn't see anything like that. I see hosting though.

If someone gives it a try, I'd like to hear about the success.

Great thread though. I like the idea of free MLMs cuz so many folks are tired of feeling like they wasted their money on a series of programs. They may be more comfortable with a zero risk op.

Good idea,

Newbie Shield

Treasure Trooper is also free to join. It won't make you rich, but it's a good way to start earning some extra cash to help fund other business opportunities. It's fun too!

Ive started my own free program with Coastal Vacations. Coastal is an excellent opportunity even at its $1295 entry fee but for some that is a stretch and hard to handle especially when you compare it to the prices of other opportunities.

I call my opportunity the Coastal Vacations A-Team Apprentice Program. Now this program is totally free. No hidden cost at all. I offer free training as well. This will revolutionize the industry. Now in the free program you dont make the $1000- $9705 as you would in the paid program but I do offer the ability to make $100 - $1000 on every sale.

The ability to make that kind of commissions without any outlay of cash is a windfall. It does help me weed out the serious people right away as well. As its commission based if you dont work you dont earn and you dont have to go on a recruiting binge. It's about moving the product. Even better you get to earn while you learn. Its better than a money back guarantee. I stand by the Coastal Package and know that it sells well.

So my opportunity isnt MLM but rather direct sales and I believe direct sales opportunities should be free.

Adam,

Coastal isn't really an MLM though. Or did you structure your own opportunity that way?

No Coastal is direct sales as I stated. Im happy to have a program that allows everyone to enjoy the ability to make high commissions of $100 - $1000 and do so even if they dont have an investment in the beginning. Now the going thing is if you arent willing to invest then you have nothing to lose. I take a different approach and think you have everything to gain. You earn as you learn and you arent out of an investment. Its a win win win situation.

The reaction has been great and I look forward to this program revolutionizing the market and it creating a great source of income for those looking to get started in the home based business arena. The timing couldnt be better with the holidays coming and anyone joining gets to work with a successful mentor and coach in the Coastal Business.

I checked out the site and agree that it would definitely be worthwhile for someone already well versed in the industry of the products/services they offer, (like my ex ),as long as they believe in the products/services being offered. And as the former spouse of someone in the industry, I do have to say that name recognition for this company is poor in such a competitive and sometimes geographically limited field.

Although being "free" to join, the time spent overcoming these hurdles to capitalize could end up being quite costly.

Not quite sure of the point you're trying to make there...but yes, MPM doesn't charge for a website, has free marketing tools and offers products/services with both name recognition and a user-friendly environment - that's about as FREE as you can get...

At least in my research so far, but since the content of this thread hasn't expanded enough thoroughly to encompass the topic, I am still anxiously awaiting new posts to lead me to new areas to investigate.

Free is great. I love free. As ive posted before im part of Coastal Vacations which is what I call a hybrid MLM. You have some residual in the beginning but then people break away quickly. The issue many have are the "high" start-up fees. The investment at the lowest level is $1295 and then you have monthly website fees. The lowest ive seen are in the $40 range. For many thats a tough nut to swallow.

Now the upside are the profits. You make from $1000 - $9705. Great upside. But imagine if you could earn while you learn and have no investment other than your own elbow grease. Thats what ive created.

Now your profits on every sale are "only" $100 - $1000 but again you have no investment whatsoever. This is totally free. Even better the training is free an already in place.

There is nothing to lose at all. Now why would I offer my great Coastal business for free? Many think im nuts. I look at it this way. If you believe in something why not offer it for free. If i works then you get great press and if it doesnt you dont get bad press as no one lost any money. I am sure that many that join for free will upgrade to the paid program as the money starts rolling in.

Now the ball is in you guys courts. If you want more details you know how to contact people on this forum. I know that this will be the next big thing on the net and that many fortunes will be made with this free program.

Oftentimes affiliate programs are free to join. If you like renting DVDs and are interested in the possibility of meeting celebrities and generating residual overrides on the sales of their merchandise, you can join E3Flix at:

[Link removed - Admin]

I signed up free as an affiliate but don't have a particular passion for movies and stars, so it's not really up my alley.

Is that the one that costs $100 or is there something I am not aware of???? It is an excellent opportunity but not exactly free.

Well The Berry tree has 30day free trial, you only pay for shipping of the product which costs way more. After that you decide what to do if you want to continue buying the product or cancel everything.

Nutronix is the same, you get free 30day free trial with automaticbuilder, shipping for the item is 3$ here if you want to try it.

Here you actually pay for the products (you can then sell them if you want) although i think the products are a bit overpriced(because it includes membership).

There are a couple of programs that are free that most people don't know about. One is the free online cash system. It pays 150 to every person you refer. It is an opportunity for no out of pocket cost. I know of an opportunity for business fronters with the prosperity cast network. I pay $250 per sale plus monthly bonus for the top producer. I provide training on top of that for both business. I do them so people can leverage that money into the business that they will eventually be running as well as getting some experience in training and mentoring
