Hi,

I am completely new to this site so bear with me! I am also wondering about West At Home. I applied 5-6 weeks ago, and am still waiting. I received an email telling me to fill out forms, but like others here, it had a Certificate Error. Should I just go ahead and fill them out?? I emailed them about it but still have not received any word. Does anyone know if they usually take this long to reply? Thanks so much!

Hi everyone,

Question for those who work for West. How flexible is this company if lets say you need to take a week off vacation etc? I understand you are required to work a minimum amount of hours a week, but they do not explain what the procedure is if you want to take off 1-2 weeks etc. If anyone has any info on this, I'd really appreciate it. I just got hired with them and will start soon.

Thanks.

Hi everyone I have one other question to ask.

Does West allow you to use "Vonage" or you need to have a local phone line connection to work?

Thanks again!

I also work for West and I simply allowed pop-ups for the West website and citrix applications. I never uninstalled my firewall or any of my programs. I do try to never download any toolbars or things that will fill my computer with needless stuff. Same as when I worked for Alpine Access, I just really try to keep my computer maintained, running sypware and adware checkers, keeping my virus protection and everything up to date, cleaning my cookies etc. By doing all of this, I have never had any difficulty logging onto my working page. I hope this helps.

Hi, Sarah and Jenny, I currently work for West. When you first log in to schedule hours you will notice that the per minute pay is posted for each half hour. You can choose the 1/2 hour blocks that fit your needs, some are paid more per minute and they vary because of expected call volume. Also, while I am on here, I would love to communicate with any other West employees. Feel free to message me it could be fun to share helpful info, or has this ever happened to you tidbits. The Pals (coaches) are helpful, but you cant really chat with them or anything.

Im new here so bear with me.
I applied for west dec 17 (friend of my moms works for them & recomended them so I know they hire in VA) I did it all that 1st day, app & test etc... I heard nothing until I emailed them around the 28th and on the 31st I recieved the email for doing tax forms, i9 etc.. but again nothing since and have had no luck checking my status at the site.I just emailed again so expect to hear something but its been over a week since I sent those form in & I dont know what else to do.
How long does the new hire process take? this is bordering on ridiculous. I saw someone else ask for advice on which comanies to chose or something, I wish I could get that far in the process! & what do you recomend if I ever do get that far?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,
I didn't have to do a phone interview either. I checked my application status today and it says I have been hired. I am still waiting for the email regarding next steps.

I am really excited!!! I am a new stay at home mother of 3 and was looking for something to supplement my income. I really think West will do that for me.

All of the comments have been very helpful. I do have a couple of questions...I am wondering what are the best times to work? I am also intrested, if it isn't too personal, what is the average income/hours? It seems that my biggest challange is deciding what hours to work and how many... Any advice/information will be greatly appreciated.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for individual medical insurance?

THANKS!!!

Does West reimburse for any expenses? phone? internet? etc. ? I am in the process of applying for them and this issue doesn't seem to have been discussed yet -

Thanks!

help!! i was just hired by west, and I am in the process of starting training. You are supposed to download the west at home assistant wizard, but when i click the start button, nothing happens. my pop up blockers are off, and i am the administrator of the computer. Those were the only suggestions in the trouble shooting section. I cannot proceed with anything else until I get this figured out, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I emailed the company, but do now know how long it will take them to write back!

I too am having the same problem. Please let me know what you find out. Thanks. I did call PAL's and they said they are having techincal issues with the home site right now, SO that might be the problem. IDK though.

ive read that if you do not read word for word off the script that you get fired..I have also heard that the training is not really paid. What is the deal? I am looking forward to working with west but want to know everything before I start.

Hi,
I am currently working for west at home for the past 10 days...So far so good.
I am in Direct response .I got paid for my Training too based upon your state wages.
You have to read the script they do monitor your call ,I have had couple of problems too when the customer gets irritated and hangs up the call during those APO and upsells.

We have to be patient enough to work...as you have to handle mutiple products at a time. But the script is actually very helpful and system is also user freindly...once you know.

Pal had advised me to increase working hours in 1/2 hour basis daily so it is easy.
They pay well in weekends and graveyard shifts...usually 17 cents per minute nowadys...They categorise you in Group A ,B or C as per yr capability.A gets the most calls.B Ok and C less.

Actually I face problems only during upsells otherwise other calls are quite okay.U provide customer service like free info brochures pick address all stuff like that.
hope this gives you an idea.

You can give a try...but when you complete the Training Its really good...It gives you an exposure.

okay! so great...i apparantley failed training with direct response..So now what?! They tell me that I have to wait 6 months before I can pick up another skill because they woul dhave automatically put me iwth a company, but that company is on "holiday" for 6 months..So now I cannot work with them unless I wait 6 months. I don't have 6 months! So does anyone have any other companies that I can work for from home? I am looking into teletech, alpine access, clc, etc..I applied to westat a few days ago and have not heard from them as of yet, but they stated that it would take about 2 weeks to hear from them. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it!

I'm new here, too. I have been hired by West At Home, however, I didn't know this until I checked my application status. Now all my HR forms have expired. I've contacted them and hope to hear back from them. I hope I don't have to apply again.

I got rejected from teletech because I said I wasn't available Saturday AND Sunday. They require this, apparently.

What is CLC? I cannot find that. I was going to apply with Alpine, but they require a particular schedule and I already work part time from home.

I'm REALLY interested in data entry (something that can be done at any time from home) but can't seem to find that out there. Any ideas?

Thank you!

Also curioius about that rip-off report. I work for West and have been paid with no problem at all. I would be curious to read that report if i could locate it. West has been good for me so far. I work Direct response and the diversity is great. I get all kinds of calls, not just selling, but also reporting blackouts, taking donations, processing requests for information for insurance or doing pre-qual on loans. It really is amazing when you think the of technology that allows for this to happen right in my home office. Good luck to all the new hires with West. There is a ton of knowledge available to you on the site. The index of support topics is i think pretty thorough. And so far the pals have been very helpful. And once you start taking calls the knowledge data base is helpful and easy to use.

I just completed my webinar with West.....I will be working in Pro Flowers....anyone else with Pro?? Also, doesn't anyone know why you can't view the training materials unless your working?? You can only view the training materials while your on scheduled hours..I asked and they told me bcz their required to pay you for opening the training module.....it doesn't make sense to me....you would think they would want you to get all the training and information as possible.......any thoughts???

I saw your post on the Work at Home Forum with the questions on the legitimacy of Arise and the fees they charge to get started working through them.
I have worked full time now through Arise since July of 2007. I might have been wary too if my mom hadn't met a lady who was a single mom that worked full time through Arise and was supporting her family on it.
I work full time through them, approximately 60-65 hours a week at approximately $14 an hour average. I am in complete charge of my own schedule (which I select in 1/2 hour increments myself on their system) and also choose which of their client companies I want to train with and work for.
Yes, there are investment costs to getting started, but I made that all back the first week and now work completely at home in my pj's. It is great! Let me know if you need additional info.

I haven't heard of Arise. I just looked it up and it looks like you can put in the schedule that you are available. Will they reject me if I don't put in that I want to work weekends? I mean, some weekends, fine, but not all weekends. Any suggestions?

Also, is this telecommunications and is any shift better than another?

Thank you for the information!

Hello everyone, New here. I currently work for West. I wanted to say that I too have never had a problem with West as long as I have worked for them. I work Direct Response. Any problems I ever had with (nothing serious) has always been addressed and promptly resolved. I do care to say that I do work many, many hours. But it is a choice that I make. I am separated, no child support, alot of kids w/ 2 in college (1 in Kindergarten!) and a few in between! And it works out great for me. I get tired of reading the rip off reports. Because I have never seen "that" side of West. I think maybe you get what you give.

By the way, to those of you who failed your tests and cannot retake for 6 months... thats the skill only, not the job. I have referred friends that have failed direct response and now productively for HSN and Pro Flowers. Neither that I ever hope to cross train for! Good luck to all! Have a Positive Day!

Seems that everyone here is looking to work from home with this one company that appears to be customer service oriented. If you are that good with people maybe you should take a look at my company and work for yourselves and get the tax writeoff from owning your own business and working from home. Check out my links and I would love to speak with you if you find it interesting.
